This is an easy various of a French Twist that can be lots of fun.
My niece and I will demonstrate for you. Since she didn't know how to make the curls herself, I demonstrated that part for you.
Twist your hair up into a pony tail, bring hair up while twisting. This will create your French Twist fold.
Make sure your hair feels secure, then while leaving the tail over the top of your head, secure the fold with pins. We've left the pins sticking out for you to see, but be sure to slide them all the way in! You could also use a hair comb if you prefer that type of hold.
At this point you can wrap the rest of your hair into a bun, which I do on occasion, or continue for the twirl.
Make sure your hair is not too twisted at this point. The fold should be secure, so you can let the tail go loose and straighten it out a bit. Wrap the hair around your finger toward the fold seam. You do not need to use your left hand for this. I did it because I was trying to shoot the picture with my right, but it's easier to use your other hand! This will bring the tail of the hair away from the fold line, and bring the curl toward the fold.
Secure by sliding a bobby pin over the bottom of the curl. I have made the pin here a golden color so you can see where it goes in and over the bottom of the curl.
Continue making your curls, and securing each loop with a pin. You can make lots of tiny curls or bigger ones. I use 3 bigger curls, and find this covers my seam.
When you reach the last curl you want to make, wrap the remaining hair around and around your finger until you've used your hair up.
Slide your finger out and grab the loop end with your other hand.
Secure that loop just like the others, positioning it in place near the seam.
