Braid-up Cascade

My sister, who has BS length, fine hair, is the model for this style.

Begin by braiding hair dutch style (braiding underhand, rather than over - outer left strand under middle, outer right hand under middle), in a single long braid, leaving the ends unsecured. If your hair is too slippery to stay somewhat braided, you may lightly secure with a band which you will remove.

Bring braid staight up and pin in the folds of the braid making sure to crisscross your pins in a X shape. You may pin more than once X if your hair is heavy. If you have long hair, do not bring braid all the way up, but instead leave in looped at the bottom, and just bringing up the tail of the braid. You want just enough to hang over near the crown.

Once braid tail is secured against scalp, bring remainder of braid up, leaving the center strand angling over to the left, and the outer left strand going straight up, while the right strand falls to the right.

Use mini-claws to grab the base of the outer left and middle strands, then make sure the middle strand falls to the right, while the outer strand falls to the left. Use the other mini claw to secure the section of hair on the right, letting that strand also fall right.

This would be a...

really good style for my third day after shampooing. I've been wanting to just wear a braid to work, but I thought it was a little too casual. This style would work, though. Tomorrow is my third day, so if I can get it to come out, I will take a pic. What do you use for pinning? Just regular metal hairpins?

Thanks, ~Kara

Just make sure your ends are really covered well, ends of the pins I mean. No sharp edges!

I DID IT!

It was so easy! What do you think?

The ends didn't look quite right so I used a couple of mini-claws and tucked them in.

I am so impressed...

April 19 2006, 8:51 PM

at how comfortable this hairstyle has been the entire day! It is not at all heavy - like a bun can be. I don't have any sore areas where the hair is pulling to tight. This is a fantastic hairstyle for comfort as well as looks!!! And it is easy-peasy to do!!! Thank you so much for sharing this - or should I say creating this, Fox!! Excellent!!!

I don't think your hair is too short for it...

April 19 2006, 3:38 AM

Just don't bring your braid up as high. You can always let those ends "fall" wherever you want them to!
