The "Stay Put Bun" or "Eva Simone Bun"

March 3 2011 at 11:21 PM

Jules  (Login CrowningGlory)

I've been trying a new bun each month but with not a lot of success. However today I've managed to do a French Twist, Artemis Bun, and now this latest one, the "Stay Put Bun". Pictures are also on the 1000 Days of Hair blog:
http://1000daysofhair.blogspot.com/2010/10/day-38-evasimone-bun.html

Instructions here:

My pictures aren't that great (my arms aren't long enough to get a decent shot of the back of my head) but hopefully they'll inspire someone to give it a go. It has a lovely knotted appearance that hasn't really shown up in the pics.

Mid-Dark brown with natural red and silver highlights; fringe/bangs.
Starting length 25"/62.5cm (BSL)
Current length 33.5" (Cut back from 38.5" February 2011 following a massive shed.)
New Goal 41.5"/105.5cm (Classic length)

Current routine: Scalp wash every second day using shampoo bars from Beauty and the Bee. Finish with acidic rinse (1 tsp ACV or lime juice to 2 cups of water). Once a week use shampoo bar on length as well as scalp. Daily oiling with almond oil.

'Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfailing beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.' 1 Peter 3:3-4

I love this!

July 16 2011, 1:50 AM

Thanks so much for posting the pics and the link for the directions to this bun - I love it! I'm new here & just starting to experiment with buns. I was able to do this style easily the first time I tried it and it looks beautiful.

I was especially surprised to find out that it actually holds in place in my hair without using bobby pins or hair sticks! I've got thick, naturally curly hair (3a/b), and I've been wearing this bun around all day without using a single thing to keep it in place. I think it's something I could do at work without using a mirror, which is a plus because I often find myself wanting to put my hair up as the days goes by and I often forget to bring anything along to hold it up.

Thanks again!! happy.gif

I'm glad this bun works for you. I'm curious how it looks on your curly hair.
