Yes, this is an RC kit with 2 big motors. It only needs servos, radio controller and battery.

Great Dio, but you might consider to change the tank commander. This cap "schutzm?tze"
wasn't worn after 1940.

zokissima, the BTR-152 by SKIF has many variants - some of which have been shown
before - this is the latest one. Some Thai modelers commented that the front part looks
like the German Hanomag.

The individual elements look pretty good, nice weathering and ground wiork,
good effects onteh water. It looks like there could have been just a bit more seam
clean up such as on the TC's right hand and possibly on the gas mask container
of the guy with no helmet. From the pictures, the eyes look okay, no real popeyes.
The composition could be stronger. Laying the subject at a slight diagonal to the
base give a more dynamic feel to a scene. The water in the forground and the
straight line of the shore make a very harsh transition with a lot of dead space.
The guy looking at his watch shifts the feeling of the scene to make it seem like
the train's late.

and that's simple water so to speak. You probably haven't seen his earlier
water work which is more complex :

Looks good MM. Just minor nit pick. I think the tracks are backwards. The track link
in the front should "point" upwards. The tank commander wears the wrong uniform.
He wears a 1939 uniform in a tank used in late 1942. The Beret gives him away.

From the pic of the Panzer 1 it shows the tank commander with what seems to be
an oversized beret. That's because they have a helmet underneath it if i'm not mistaken.
Later in the war the crew didn't like to use the beret anymore. I love the way Art Instructor
makes water for dios. Great job as always.

moderator here because he knows so much about armors. He's right about the
tracks, I'll tell Art Instructor to be more careful in the future. As for the point that
the figures were too old for the tank or the tank was too new for the figures, I followed
Tri Star's box art (# 35016) which shows this set of figures with a Panzer IV. Perhaps
I should have used Panzer II or III instead?

You can use that old tank commander to a Pzkw IV but it has to be an early ones like
an Ausf. A, B, C and D. The probably the simplest rule is to use it on short barreled
Panzer IV. The soldiers are actually for 1939-1940. You have an option to remove them
including the commander for another project. I guess the soldiers are alright. It's hard
to notice anyway.
The box art for Tristar shows early Panzer IV (short barreled). My first hint that tells me
that this is an early German is the Panzer grey camo on the tank. The 2nd is the beret
on the commander. Here's the review...

Thanks, defcon1! The problem was that the box art didn't show the barrel at all, so I
didn't know that I should have used the early versions of Panzer IV - something I didn't
have (had only this one and Tamiya's Panzer IV H)
Now I have two new finished dio's in hand, I hope the armors and figures get along well.
The first one is a winter dio using Dragon's M4A3 (76) w/ VVSS Sherman "Battle of the Bulge"
with 2 sets of in-box figures (U.S. Tank Crew and US Infantry). The other is a summer dio
using Dragon's Sd.Kfz. 251 Ausf. C (3 in 1) with in-box figure set. What do you think?

Hello MM,
If you are going to use the figures that contains in the box it would be fine but careful
with the decals.
Dragon's M4A3 "Battle of the Bulge" contains crews from US tank crew (NW Europe 1944)
and 101st Airborne (Bastogne 1944). You can use the figures in the box together with the tank
but be careful on selection of the decals. Don't use the decals "4th Tank Bn, 1st Armored
Division, St. Lucia, Italy 1944 and 760th Tank Bn, US Fifth Army, Italy 1945" and the Bastogne
101st airborne soldiers. Be careful with captured markings and US tank crew. If you are going
to place them in snow dio, don't use Italian campaign decals.
The 3 in 1 sd.kfz.251 C (6224) figures are from Sturmpionier (Eastern front) 1942. There are no
specific unit decals on this kit. I think it is safe to mix them all up including the driver.

It's amazing that you know so much about the figure sets available in Dragon's armor kits!
You mean the decals for the figures or for the tank?. If it's decals for the tank, I think "Art
Instructor" chose the correct one - the 4th Army at Bastogne - I think he followed the box art.
As for decals for figures I haven't checked yet, but that shouldn't be a big problems because
most figures were covered by trench and bushes, you can hardly see them except from
top view.

ก็ใหญ่พอควรครับ ยาว 46 ซม. กว้าง 20 สูง 18 ซม. หนักพอควรเพราะมีมอเตอร์ใหญ่
ท่าทางคงวิ่งสะบัดเลยถ้าติด servo & remote controller เข้าไป
ราคามีแต่ราคาเมืองนอกครับ เพราะเมืองไทยไม่มีขาย เห็นตอน Squadron หรือ greatmodels
ลดราคา จะเหลือ $199 บวกค่าส่ง 30-40% บวกภาษีเข้าไปอีก 28% ของราคาทั้งสองอย่างรวมกัน
(เจอแน่ เพราะกล่องใหญ่และหนัก) สงสัยจะเกิน 15000 คะรับ

ผมหมายถึงหมวกของผบ.รถน่ะครับ ...พลรถถังจะ ใส่หมวกเบเร่ท์ ช่วงต้นสงคราม ...
ปลาย ๆ สงคราม ตามรุ่นของรถถัง จะใส่หมวกแก๊ป ..... แต่ก็ ไม่แน่ครับ ... เค้าอาจจะมี
ความหลังฝังใจกะหมวกใบนี้...เก็บไว้ไม่ยอมคืนคลัง... อะไรก็เป็นไปได้ สำหรับ ไดโอ

ขอบคุณมากครับสำหรับคำชม เรื่องหมวกเบ่เร่ท์นั้นผมว่าผู้บังคับรถถังคงคิดว่าใส่แล้วเท่ดี
ก็เลยใส่ประจำนั่นครับ อิอิ ปกติคุณ Art Instructor เขาจะไม่ paint สีดวงตาของ figures
แต่คราวนี้เขาบอกเขาลองทำดู ดูดีขึ้นมั้ยครับ?

ขอบคุณมากครับ! ชุดฟิกเก้อร์เป็นของ Tri Star ครับ ชื่อชุด German Infantry Set (Vol.1)
ซึ่งมีคำอธิบายว่า Early WW II set, with 4 figures, including one Pz commander
เป็นยุคต้นของสงครามครับ ชุดนี้มี 4 ตัวตามภาพนี้ หนึ่งในสี่คือ ผบ.รถถัง ผมชอบภาพนี้ก็เลยหา

น่าจะจริงอย่างท่านสมงิว่าครับ คือเป็นรุ่นลำกล้องสั้น แต่บังเอิญภาพหน้ากล่องมันไม่โชว์ความยาวของปืน
อีกทั้งแพนเซ่อร์สี่ตัวใหม่ของทั้งไทรสตาร์และดราก้อนผมก็ยังไม่ได้มาสักกะตัวนึง หาได้แต่รุ่นจีที่ใช้น่ะครับ

ท่าน MM ครับสเกลเท่าไรครับ ถ้าเป็น 1:35 ตัวรถยังพอหาได้แต่ปืนนะซีครับเมื่อไหร่ท่านจะสั่งมาอีก,
ผมได้รถTruckติดปืนจากท่าน2ชุดๆแรกทำตามกล่องอีกตัวเอาปืนไปติดรถ BMP ของอัฟกัน
แล้วนี่ท่านเอาตัวนี้มาล่อให้ผมน้ำลายหกอีกแล้วนะครับ

1:35 ครับเสี่ย ตัวนี้ปืนมันมาพร้อมรถครับ และนอกจากตัวนี้แล้ว ปืนนี้ก็หาไม่ได้อีกแล้วครับ
อยากได้ปืนก็ต้องซื้อทั้งรถทั้งปืนน่ะครับ แต่ก็ไม่แพง $21.95 หรือไงเนี่ยครับ

ขอบคุณครับ... ตัวนี้คริสตัลไม่เคยเอาเข้ามาหรอกครับ มันเพิ่งออกไม่นานมานี้เอง ก่อนหน้านี้
อาจจะมีการนำเข้า BTR-152 หลายรุ่น เช่นรุ่นพยาบาล รุ่นติดปืนกลเล็ก แต่ไอ้ที่ติดปืนกลหนัก
ขนาดนี้ ก็เพิ่งมีตัวนี้แหละครับ

very nice.
Perhaps the spare tyre need not be weathered like its used similar to the 4 wheels on
the axle? The wheel weathering is to me a little too heavy too.
Other than that, this armoured car looks really tough! Is this still used today by tha PLA?

Thanks for your kind comments, Loo! Well, the spare tyre might have been used
interchangeably with other tyres, so it looks as equally worn.
I don't know whether the PLA still have it after recent Israeli attack, but some other countries
might still have it. The BTR-152 has many variants.

His real name is Tanit Chankham. He's been building models and dioramas for me
for 6-7 years now. "Art Instructor' is the handle or callsign I gave to him since the
beginning when I didn't know his name yet, so I used his occupation as the handle.

My reply :
My intention for this Hummel is for static display only, I don't have the servos
and radio controller installed, so I don't know how the mechanisms work.
Now my modeler is working on Tamiya's M4 1:16 - another RC tank. But same
as the Hummel, I don't intend for it to run. I already have running ones, i.e,
a Heng Long's Tiger 1:16 and a Russian made Panther 1:8

In summer of 1943, this tank and its infantry was on the way to Kursk. The soldiers
seemed to see something in the water, but what was that?

Very nice built!!! the water look very reallistic!!!
btw, the riverbank and the tank orientation looks a bit too parallel to the base,
so make it looks limited to the display boundry. i think if have more angle to the
square base will look better! just my 2cents!!!

Nice build. But I don't think tanks would stop so close to the bank in real scenario
because it might slide into the water if the ground is too soft.

unless the tank is built to continue moving while submerging half of its body in water

I think by 1943 onward, the tank commander beret has been replaced with a field
cap/side cap. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The black beret was used in the initial stage of WW2 (poland, france).

My only comment is that there seems to be a lack of interaction between the 4 people
in the dio. Some sort of communication or bond between them would create a more
powerful scene.

That is different from what I meant. It may slide down sideways and water will flow
into the turret and into the engine compartment. And then it will be stuck there. I don't
think amphibious tanks will attempt to enter water sideways either.

RX-78-2, you're right about the tank's orientation which is too parallel to the base.
The dio would look better if the tank is diagonal to the base. Perhaps the base is
too small. As for comments that the tank might slip into the water, I think that's
not a problem because the water is shallow. The tank commander's beret may be
old but it's his favorite headgear, so he kept wearing it... Just my 3 cents...
