May I know if models shops in Bankok sell "WES" products? It's usually an immitation of verlinden products. Usually made by the chinese. So seldom I found in manila anymore.
Nice to hear from you again. I've never heard of "WES" so it's unlikely that their products will be available in Bangkok. Anyway, a local modeler got many "recast" products from China and he'll recast them for those interested. You may look at this thread:
Thanks for the link pisan. I will write Hikki. It was just sad that i don't understand thai. Wes was around for more than 10 years now. i just don't know what happened to them. recently, I was in manila. And bought quite a number of old wes products including cobble stones and houses. And bought mini art figures too. I was amazed at how good the poses of the figures. I' m starting to get convinced that TAMIYA is surpassed already. Lots of new companies out there.
You're welcome, Loyd. Nevermind that you can't read Thai, I think Hikki can communicate with you in English. Here in Thailand Master Box's figures are more talked about and admired than Mini Art's. I have many of their kits built. Here's some samples:
German Tank Repairmen:
-------
German Motorcyclists (Letting of Steam):
-------
Casualty Evacuation:
-------
Rigid Landing:
All those are Master Box's kits. But this one is from Mini Art.
US Jeep Crew & MP:
They look good too and Mini Art has recently released several
Yup, indeed they are marvelous poses. Seldom you can find it in Tamiya. even Dragon surpassed them already in terms of variety of poses and models as well as the quality.. Hikki did responded to me promptly, but he only have a limited variety of figures(based on the catalog). Do you know of any other person who does recasting? Also persons who do recasting such as cobble stone and the likes(made of plaster of paris)?
Apart from Hikki, I saw another guy named "platoon" advertising to sell a number of 1/35 figures. You may check this thread:http://www.thaimsot.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=7502
If you're interested you may contact him by e-mail: ps2moo@yahoo.com
In the thread you'll see the price in Thai baht (2xx.- baht per set) plus shipping cost (20.- baht).
Today I agree to buy a resin 1/9 figure (Adolf Galland - German WWII pilot) from a fellow modeler named "Masaki1" for 520.- Baht. He told me that he got it from a local hobby shop and that it was recasted by another modeler. I like big scale figure and I have vehicles in the same scale to go with the figures.
Sawasdee Pisan. thanks again for the link. i will try to write him and ask for a catalog. does he have a catalog? Anyways, 1/9 is also great. You can really appreciate the details. do you know of any figure 1/16th from verlinden or replica of a DAK-africa officer walking while in a semi- covering position? It has a base with it already?i happen to make one before in a 1990's. And like I said I never saw one again.Hope you can also post links for me again in your free time. You seem to have lots of connections out there.thanks
Pisan,
I felt compelled to scan thru my files since I tried to googled that figure in the net and I just couldn't find it anymore. Indeed, I found my old verlinden catalog number 12 that was published in winter of 1993 and 1994. Its figure number 784 german ww2 afrika korps 120mm. I hope you can find a resin replica of it in Thailand.
The link I gave shows some figure already, 'platoon' don't have catalog like Hikki. Not really connections, but we have a local modeling site for exchange or ideas and/or models. 1/16 kits are hard to come by, mostly sold are 1/35 and 54mm (1/32).
I have Verlinden Catalog #14 - 1997 and I see the figure #784 that you mentioned. I had a copy of this one built more than 10 years ago. It would be hard to find one these days.
Yup, I surmised that this figure is hard to find and probably out of circulation already as i couldn't find it in the web. I'll try to check hikki and platoon again. currently I'm still waiting for platoon's reply.
Platoon hasn't responded yet. Anyways, do you know of any model companies making Russian farm house. Much like the houses that can be seen in Kursk or any Russian provinces.
Pisan i found this in the net but it comes in 1:72. It is this type of Russian house that I'm looking.I wonder if you knew of any 1:35 scale for this Russian hut.
If platoon don't respond I think it's likely that he's not capable of communication in English.
But at least Hikki is capable. I hope you can find a way for fund transfer with him. I'm going to order some from him too such as the 2 MG gunners 1/16 for 600.- Baht and another 1/16 figure.
(I have a lot of 1/35 figure sets - plastic and resin - already, 100+ boxes unbuilt)
I think whatever they have in 1/72 scale, we have more in 1/35 one. As for your liking of Russian hut, I think the closest one gotta be this - The Ukranian Village House from Mini Art:
The kit also provides another part of building which my modeler did not use in this scene. The whole building looks like this:
Oh you got it already. I might have seen that too, but due too my poor memory, I forgot already. I see that MiniArt will release this one soon and it looks close to the pics of 1/72 hut that you showed:
I've translated the text message from platoon, it reads as follows:
He has been informed about release plan for 7-8th months (Jul & Aug) from "Chulian shop" in China, he said that several ones are interesting so he shows their pictures fisrt, most of them are "Warrior" brand. As for prices he expects they're not as high as the favorite shop in Gwangjao. At this moment they're available for pre-order yet, but he wants to know if anyone is interested in any figures so that he can collect as data for Mr.Chulian. He'll get some sample from him at week's end and he'll open the box to show the contents. /end
When I receive your e-mail I'll reply and forward the pics of 1/16 kits to you.
Hi Pisan,
Both vignette sets are good. I can use it for my intended small diorama. But right now what's the most appropriate is really that Russian farm house that I've been looking for. And mind you it's really nice. I'll try check for it in our local store in Manila. It's a good alternative set for me if I can't find one Russian house.
I'm glad you like them, but the first one is not yet available and the second one has just been released. You probably won't find any in Manila yet, I believe importers there need some time to add new items to their stock. It's usually faster for me to order myself than to wait for the local importers.
Yes, many of them kits are very interesting. It's too bad that I don't have a display case high enough to host these buildings anymore (still I'll order the one with a fountain). They take two storeys instead of one. I hope you can find them in Manila. Good luck!
