dear sir,
i`ve seen your photographs on msot that you`ve been posted on 29 march 2009 time 9:39. what attract me in the photo is the ah-1g with green brown camouflage and shark mouth painting. from the main rotor, cockpit canopy, stub wing and skids, i recognize the kit as 1/48 either from hobbyworld or academy-minicraft(tell me if i am wrong about this!). but looks like you reshaped the nose contour. i`ve been desperately looking for another picture of the same kit inside msot but i couldnt find any since all writen in thai. would you please send couple or more pictures of this kit. this kit is really attract me because its really unique among its kind in 48scale. and could you tell me how did you reshaped the nose contour? thanks a lot and best regards from indonesia.
benny.

Hi benny,

I think your memory serves you wrong. I don't remember posting or showing AH-1G 1:48 at all.
I don't have 1:48 copters, most copters are 1/35 ones. Can you give the link to the thread that you thought I posted? perhaps I can help by finding out the builder and the answer for you.

dear model maniac,
the link is msot(model society of thailand). the thread is located exactly above aircraft thread. guess its for model kit exhibitions and contests. inside the thread, second from top is written 10 msot 29-2552, consist of two pages. the picture (sorry i cannot re-post it) is on first pages, fourth from top. it shows all kind of vietnam war stuff consists of two g.i & one nva figures, an ah-1g, an nva tank & a lssc.
i guess somebody else did build the cobra. a lot of people said this kit is pathetic in its original form because it doesnt resemblance the production/operational cobra(true!), so make it as the prototype or take another brand ah-1. but the builder of the chopper turns the kit original look into something more respectable, specially if the builder put an armament under the stub wings (the kit armament is four nord ss11 antitank missiles instead of rocket launchers or gunpods). thanks model maniac!

Dear benny,

OK, now I know what you saw. That thread was titled "Pictures from MSOT 10th meeting, 29 March 2009" and I saw the fourth picture already. I'm not sure it's 1:48, it's more like 1:35 to me. Anyway, I'll repost the picture in MSOT Aircraft forum and ask for the builder and its details. Allow a day or two for answer which I'll post here. It's a pleasure to have you here.

I got the answer already! The kit was Fujimi's 1:48 and the nosecone is original - no modification. The red cobra marking was painted by the builder.

dear model maniac,
basically its an old fujimi ah-1g 48 then reboxed by academy-minicraft, hobbyworld & lindberg. people told that mostly earlier fujimi 48 kit is undersized. although they are stated as 48 in the box, it turns out that they are 50 or 52, as it happens on old fujimi f-5a/b 48.
i`ve seen another good picture of this cobra in scalerotors under modelshows thread: ipms nationals 2008 - ah1 cobra display. it appears in the basis of n209j experimental/ah1 prototype & look a bit smaller among the other cobras.
i like this kit because its really unique among its kind, being the only dedicated g-cobra in 48(although maybe undersized?), inaccurate forward fuselage shape & main armament.
thanks a lot for the great favour model maniac!

oops!

halo again model maniac,
just want to make correction.
i forgot that theres another dedicated g-cobra in 48, it came from old aurora kit. this one is far more better in accuracy than earlier fujimi g-cobra. one modeler in finescale forum even stated that the overall shape of the aurora kit is very accurate & matches up very nicely with the monogram f-cobra fuselage. i`ve seen one on the ebay auction. just type aurora huey cobra & it will come up on the top list. unfotunately the auction will be ended in one day.
so now we know that theres two dedicated g-cobra model kit in 48.
thats all model maniac!

Well, as far as I know from another modeler, apart from Fujimi, academy-minicraft, hobbyworld & lindberg and aurora, there's another one named X-idea which had some association with Academy.
