Türkiye Pakistan'a tasarım ve malzeme konusunda destek olacak.

Pakistan is ready to join the Milgem( Milli Gemi= National Ship ) project.
The design and development of Milgem has been funded by SSM and has been developed by Turkish Engineers under respected national companies. Pakistan has been wanting to desing it's own ships for sometime now and is seeking co-peration with Turkiye on this issue.
Milgem has drawn alot of attention on IDEX-2007 in UAE and Pakistan has been following Milgem real close.
Pakistan has a requirement for 4 corvettes and wants the first ship to be built in Turkiye while the rest in Karachi Ship Yards.
Turkiye would help Pakistan on designs and components of the ships. Turkiye is yet to summit her offer to Pakistan this month and Pakistan'i officials should be visiting Turkiye shortly after in the upcoming months...
Pakistan already has ordered 4 Mrtp-33 with Harpoons and has Mrtp-15 armed with MG

Milgem, from the Turkish words Milli Gemi (National Ship), is the name of the Turkish corvette program; the purpose of which is to build a modern corvette with indigenous capabilities. Construction of the first Milgem class corvette, TCG Heybeliada, began on 26 July 2005. TCG Heybeliada will be put to sea on 23 August 2007 and is scheduled to be completed by 25 October 2010, when it will start undergoing full sea trials before being officially commissioned. A total of twelve Milgem class corvettes will be built for the Turkish Navy, with possible exports to other countries.

Initially 12 Milgem class corvettes shall be built, with option for more vessels in the future.
Future applications
There are plans of adding a Mk.41 VLS (Vertical Launching System) which is capable of firing ESSM (Evolved Sea Sparrow), VLA (Vertical Launch Anti-Submarine Rocket), and Standard missiles, using Milgem corvettes as a testing platform for the new class of indigenous multirole frigates of the Turkish Navy, known as the TF-2000 programme. The experience and technological know-how gained with the Milgem project will play an important role in determining the design characteristics and the development process of the TF-2000 frigates, as well as the selection of the systems and equipment which will be used on these ships.

i follow military news with keen interest, but even till now i fail to understand the roles and responsibilities or you may call differences between a corvette, frigates and a destroyer? can someone take some time out to explain it on this forum.

Make no mistake guys, four corvettes can seriously boots PN capabilities in terms of speed( faster than frigates ), packs as much firepower as a frigate and they're cheap and effective for their jobs.
Excellent choice by Pakistan

I suppose 4 corvettes is better than nothing.
In all honesty though i think pakistan has lost the naval arms race with india.does pakistan have nuke subs or the qty for that matter?what about carriers & a naval aviation element of indian size & quality?
dont have to like it but living in denial does you no service
& elturco,as far as millgemming occupied cyprus, go ahead
a wasteful exercise indeed.we cypriots know t/cyps arnt our enemy but rather turkey is both cyps enemy, turkeys policies towards the islandprove this on a daily basis

Great news! 4 Milgems will definitely serve as a force multiplier on top of those MRTP class stealthy fast attack boats with Harpoons. Those were the smallest naval platforms ever to bear Harpoon missiles. You combine Harpoon's firepower, MRTP series' attack speed and stealth characteristics, and you get yourself a platform that's in a sense more dangerous and effective than a frigate. And let's not forget, Milgem's primary design criteria was submarine hunt, it's advanced ASW capabilities WILL give our Pakistani friends the upper hand under the water.
If the deal gets signed, expect India to dramatically increase the number or weapon range of its surface combattants to counter the Milgem threat.

Well India does have a coast that is 7 times bigger than Pakistan's? Only suitable that it have a bigger navy to deal not only with Pakistan, but other rivals such as China. However I would not discount the Pakistan Navy, it only has a fraction of coast to defend. Besides the 4 F-22P light frigates, 4 Milgem corvettes and 3 new SSKs, the PN will also order 4 new frigates - either the Type-054A or MEKO. That is about 12 major surface combatants; 6 modern AIP-equipped SSKs; 16 MRTP-33, Quwaat and Jalalat Class missile boats; 10 P-3C Orion, 3 P-3B Hawkeye 2000 AEW and at least 6 new helicopters. That is just the stuff mentioned by official media reports, there are a lot of planned acquisitions by the armed forces reported by very credible members on certain defence forums.
All in all I think the Pakistan Navy will be a fairly lethal force in terms of defence. One a naval cruise missile is available to them, I think their offensive capabilities will also be note worthy. The Pakistan Navy will definitely not be as strong or advanced as the Indian Navy, but that definitely does not discount the PN from being a painful thorn in the future.

ThatS the problem, after nuclear test, only limited non conventional war can be expected. Pakistan navy is developing at very quick pace, cuz it start taking over the NATO duties in arabian sea and middle eastern coastline.
It looks very modern (from the drawing), comparing to Chinese Frigate 54A (I know it is a frigate), which one is more modern ? and how much fire power compare to Chinese 54A or Dutch Sigma Corvette ?

According to Kanwa the Pakistan Navy is interested in the Type-054 series frigate. Personally I think the PN will go for 4 Type-054A variants with VLS capable of using the HQ-16 SAM and a naval Babur cruise missile. Of all the platforms to integrate the Babur to, I think the Type-054A is as close as it gets.

We just bought 6 Scorpenes, get 2 Akulas in 2007 (this is confirmed news leased for 5 years at USD35m per peice per year) + another RFP for 6 more subs.
We get three new frigates during the next two years. And more and more...
We didn't need to use the aircraft carrier in 1971 because you guys surrendered before we could get it started and plus we couldn't afford to feed the sailors on the aircraft carriers cause we had 90,000 PoW's to feed.
On a more serious note, Vikrant was protected cause it was more a symbol and less a fighting machine.
Somehow with AK Antony and the rest, we have started taking our Armed Forces very very seriously and there has been marked improvement in the quality of inputs we have now. Even if I compare them to 1999 the Kargil war, and in defence terms, those are very recent years.
There is a serious concern with Pakistan, it has ignored its Navy for such a long time that it can't really ever play a catching game. I think Indians realise it and want to keep that edge.
Plus, our Armed forces are only double the size of Pakistan effectively and we spend 5.2 times more. There has to be an edge to that. Plus, our defence budget growths have been fair and a lot of sops have been thrown in.
I think by 2015 the real edge should start showing i.e. capital investments made now such as the subs/the carrier/frigates/naval arm all falling into place together.
I think I posted our naval strenght and more than 50% is recent which is a very encouraging trend

Has the ship launched version of babur been tested? Has it even entered operational service with the PA? Are there any links to substantiate the presence of Babur units in the PA?

"Wonder why Indian hide their aircraft carrier in any tense situation, parked 100ss miles away from tense zone......."
U nuts? Who feeds u with such stories? We were fighting a 2 front war. What makes u think the aircraft carrier wont b used? It was the Paki submarine Ghazi which was sunk, in the eastern theatre i believe.

the prestigious Indian carrier INS Vikrant(or viraat??!?)in 1965 hid and cloughed up the Bombay harbour and did not come out for the war, as PNS Ghazi was roaming just outside Bombay waters.
The sub in 1965 war,PNS Ghazi was not destroyed by Indians but apparently strong underwater currents hurled one of its own mines onto it.
the vikrant was only good at bombing targets in east Pakistan where there was never a serious military presence of Pak, even the fishing boats could have made a better navy then what PN had deployed there.
BTW where was the Indian Navy when Dwarka was bombed to hell??

Operation Dwarka is one of the most significant events of 1965 Indo-Pak war which reflected courage, determination, professional competence, dedication and coordination of the PN personnel involved in it. The objectives of this operation were: to draw the heavy enemy units out of Bombay for the submarine GHAZI to attack; to destroy the radar installation at Dwarka; to lower Indian morale; and to divert Indian Air effort away from the north.
On 7 September 1965 when the ships were on their normal war patrol, the following signal was received from Naval Headquarters: "Task group comprising PNS BABUR, PNS KHAIBAR, PNS BADR, PNS JAHANGIR, PNS ALAMGIR, PNS SHAHJAHAN and PNS TIPU SULTAN is to be in position 239 degrees – 120 miles from Dwarka light house by 071800 E Sep with maximum power available. Task group thereafter to carryout bombardment of Dwarka about midnight using 50 rounds per ship. Force is to retire from bombardment area by 080030 E Sep and return to present patrol area at full speed. One or two enemy frigates may be expected to encounter in the area in addition to enemy air threat."
The Commodore Commanding PN Flotilla accordingly originated his signal at 1835, the salient features of which were: The initial position for attack was 206 degrees Dwarka light 6 miles; the target was to be city installations and conspicuous chimney; and complete radio silence was to be maintained except for guarding air warning radar.
The Fleet immediately topped up fuel and shaped course for Dwarka operation. At midnight the ships were on Initial Position (IP) with all their guns loaded and the men ready to strike a historic punch on enemy’s face. The city of Dwarka was completely blacked out and target could only be identified on radar. At 0024 bombardment was ordered to commence when ships were 5.5 to 6.3 miles from Dwarka light. It took only four minutes to complete the bombardment, firing altogether about 350 rounds on the target. Upon successful completion of the attack the ships retired immediately without any loss or damages. There was no considerable resistance from the enemy and the ships safely arrived at their patrol area by 0635 on 8 Sep. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/pakistan/navy-intro.htm
