Indians global hate targets
Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse for Indians in Australia news broke of another attack, only this time it was an attempt to burn Rajesh Kumar alive after assailants lobbed a petrol bomb into his home. Kumar suffered burn injuries and is lucky to be alive. This is the fourth attack on an Indian in 3 days, after 25-yr-old Baljinder Singh was stabbed in Melbourne. Baljinder said he begged to be sparred but his assilants laughed in sadistic pleasure.
In another part of Melbourne, 25-year-old Shravan continues to battle for his life after being stabbed with a screwdriver. In an another attack earlier, another student was badly beat-up on a train that he suffered a broken skull.
It is absolutely unforgivable especially since Indian students contribute nearly 60% of Australia's billion dollar education revenue.
On May 29 the Australian PM condemned the attack even calling up Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh but while there was remorse, the Australian PM did not even once admit that the attacks had a racist undertone much to the surprise of New Delhi.
The Attacks against the Indian community in Australia are part of a rising trend of hate crimes against Indians taking place with monotonous regularity around the globe over the last few years.
