A 22-year-old woman was allegedly abducted at knifepoint and raped for a month according to a complaint lodged at Gandhigram police
station on Sunday night. Police have registered the case under sections 365,366,376,344,504,506(2) and 114 of Indian Penal Code and started investigation.
The woman has, in her complaint, stated that while she was sitting with her mother and sister at her house in Gandhigram area on August 4, her neighbour Mehul Jani and his friend Sunni Rajput, along with an unknown man, approached her and abducted her. Jani held a knife against her and said he wanted to marry her against her mother's refusal.
As per the complaint, she was taken to a house in Rishi Park society in Motamava area of the city. She was tied up and kept in confinement there for three days. On August 7, she was moved to Gondal in a car and was compelled to sign some court documents. Following that, she was brought back to the city and raped thrice.
On Sunday, her mother and sister stumbled upon the place at Motamava where she had been confined and they freed her.
"We registered the plaint and sent the woman for a medical check up. We are investigating the matter and the authenticity of the allegations. The picture will be clear in a couple of days," said police inspector of Gandhigram police station MB Raj. "Many a times, incidents are not as they appear and so we would like to make a full inquiry before coming to any conclusions," Raj added.
