Will the mollahs so crazy, that they could nuck israel?
Or will they just enter in a politic of "disuasion", like usa and ussr : you can destroy us, we can too, so nobody move?
Why iranians don't enrich their uranium in russia?
It could prevent a desastrous war, even a new genocid.
Will the mollahs so crazy, that they could nuck israel?
Only a fool with little knowledge of world affairs would claim such a thing. Iran and Israel may be ideological enemies but no arch enemies. Both countries sustain each other and the other state's propaganda machines. you can destroy us, we can too, so nobody move?
Iran wants leverage over the West which is logical considering wester occupation and meddling in our region. The West would think twice next time before they decide to intervene in the region. Western powers should be flushed out of the region and nukes would give Iran bargaining chips.
Why iranians don't enrich their uranium in russia?
Why doesn't France enrich their uranium in the States? Why did France conduct so many nuclear test in Polynesia polluting that region? Whom do you fear?
As you can see the French have absolutely no moral grounds to dictate others. If I were you I would concentrate on the time bomb you yourselves are sitting on. The marginalized inhabitants of suburbs of French cities. You are a long way from dictating others. Compris?
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States 1924-1929
Do you really believe the US would really fear Iran if it had Nukes? If Iran used a Nuke they would be wiped off the face of the planet. No one is a fool! This is more for it's Arab neighbors. But this will set off a regional Nuclear arms race in the end.
One more time, I never said -nor will you hear any Iranian claiming it- that Iran wants nukes to attack Israel or United States.
There is no country that would use nukes. Nukes just give you an edge, a strategic advantage when facing your foes period.
Iran feels it should be calling the shots in our region and there is no reason why Iran should allow foreign ships in the Persian Gulf. Iran's weakness has even led to midget powers like France to have ambitions of setting up a military base in our backyard.
Iran should step up and claim its place. In fact, this regime with its incompetence has ignored our strategic interests for decades. Nuclear technology should be our first step. After stockpiling enough missiles Iran should invest Billions in its navy and start policing the region it had always done. Strait of Hormuz should the check point. Any foreign military ship should be turned back or intimitated to return. I wish we had a more pragmatic regime.
Most people want to be afraid of the Mullahs. Whereas, Mullahs are the weakest side of Iran you could ever get.

Iran and Pakistan are not the same. Pakistan was "allowed" to have the bomb to balance India.
At any rate, the regime in Iran should never have the bomb in my opinion. There are simply too many idiots in the equation.

With all due respect, you seem to be buying into the Western propaganda.
Irrational behaviour is an image this regime would like to convey to the outside world and in fact benefits from it. The sense of instability in our region is good for regimes such as the Iranian and the Israeli. You know why? Simple...they are extremists
If you look at Ahmadinejad's administration, you will see an analogy between revolutionary behaviour and irrational behaviour. He tried to revive that old revolutionary behaviour with slogans and bombastic statements in an attempt to provoke and to derail the focus of the International Community. His administration partly managed to do so.
However, if you look deeper, you will notice that it is all words. No action. The fact of the matter is that the regime is more calculated and more mature than many might think.
My theory is: one of the fewest (if not the only) common grounds between regime's interests and country's interests is the nuclear dossier. Iranian going nuclear serves the survival of establishment and as a tool to extort western powers into concessions. Coincidentially, this serves our national interests as well. A stronger Iran means more security and a stronger standing.

i roughly said what you said a couple of months ago . i said the regime isnt as dumb as you might think they always have plan B and are not like the arabs that chook all there eggs in one basket .
I have a question, I know Iran has deserts but where do you think Iran would test its first a-bomb?
Is there a safe area somewhere? (please provide a map)
Keep in mind that the area should be deserted (wind can blow a nuclear dust cloud to a city, that's not desirable), there may not be rivers or underground water reserves in the area either.

No we're afraid of these tin pot demagogues, Iranians seem to keep electing/submitting to, will eventually wrest power from the Mullahs. That combined with choice quotes from the public such as..."A stronger Iran means more security and a stronger standing.". Throw in a few minor regional victories against weaker opponents...we've seen where that story tends to lead to in the west before. If you add nuclear weapons...we in the West would prefer not to be forced to turn Iran into glass surfaced parking lot (and millions of innocent Iranians into dust).

Well...what you think or find of Mullahs is irrelevant. You people in the West need to understand that Iranians won't jump when you want it. We couldn't care less. Mullahs will go when Iranians decide they have had enough.
At this point Iranians seem to support the regime in its nuclear aspirations and nuclear we go. Get used to it.
"A stronger Iran means more security and a stronger standing".
History of Iran shows that Iran has seen spikes of rage to consolidate its power and guaranttee its survival. In the past there was nothing Rome could do about it. That goes for the West today as well: there is absolutely nothing they could do. Recnet interventions in Mid East until now have only led to Iran's position getting stronger. Why? Because western powers are dumb enough to get themselves into a mess they have no understanding of and Iran has manipulated their presence and resources for its own goal. I don't have to tell you how many soldiers you have lost in the month of August. Just when they thought they had the situation under control.

Big mouth for people that have been bleeding in a country like Afghanistan for years. You can't even control a country weakened by 30 years of civil war and invasions. Recent history shows us that western powers only attack weak half starved countries. What is your next target? Etiopia?

"Big mouth for people that have been bleeding in a country like Afghanistan for years. You can't even control a country weakened by 30 years of civil war and invasions."
Look at pictures of German and Japanese cities in 1945...the fact the cities in Iraq and Afghanistan don't look like this, speaks to our restraint, not any weakness of ours or strength of nations there...believe otherwise if you wish.
"Recent history shows us that western powers only attack weak half starved countries. What is your next target? Etiopia? "
Recent history shows that the west will only support military action against those that attack us...Iraq is a clear example of that.
"At this point Iranians seem to support the regime in its nuclear aspirations and nuclear we go. Get used to it."
Another tough talking teenager on WAFF...I've have never seen that before.
I assure you that the most likely occurrence for any major war between nations in the future will be between Sunni and Shi'ite nations and not Jew and Muslim nations. Once that happens we will gladly sell you (and the other side) everything you need to exterminate yourselves in a series of pointless little wars...and like all idiots obsessed with beliefs and honour you will give us every last penny in a manner no different than your typical drug addict...hopefully you will bottom before it comes to nukes, but I doubt it (unless your civilization evolves dramatically in the next 20 years).

Who has been using depledted uranium bombs worldwide and making two useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the past eight years? Not taking in account the one that were nearly to occur against Sudan and Iran, and god knows which other countries????
Should the USA have the bomb? I really believe not... Your politicians have proved unable to handle simple crisis from the Caucasus to Afghanistan through Iraq and Pakistan!!!!!
Bear it, saying that Iranian leaders are idiots is a real joke coming fro Americans and Europeans...
Until recently I myself believed that Iran was entitled to posses a nuclear arsenal. But the recent events have changed my opinion almost completely. Not because of the way the regime opposed the opposition, but because the recent events have revealed several of Iran's high ranking power brokers. Many of these leaders are extremists and power hungry. A deadly combination that can lead disastrous results for all people, including Iranians.

As always I find myself in agreement with Koz, the primary issue in my mind is proliferation. If you understand anything about technical evolution you understand that any nation state will be able to create nuclear weapons within a century or so, proliferation will only accelerate this.
The most likely scenario is that Iraq will collapse into 3 states, with extremist elements running the Shi'ite and Sunni sections (the Kurds guaranteed by Turkey will sit the upcoming war out). These two groups will claim all sorts of exaggerated atrocities are being committed by the other. Naturally, the Saudi's will support the Sunni's and Iran (ran by hard-liners at this point) will support the Shi'ites, much clandestine support will flow to each side from their sugar daddies. The Iraqi Sunni's will begin lose by force of numbers. Some idiot on the political fringes in Iran will make a comment about how Islam will be better served by Shi'ite stewardship of Mecca and Medina (in a bid to expand his personal power).
Now the Saudi's will be faced with a choice to arm themselves with nukes to ensure their borders or assume Allah will protect them...so when they receive the nukes they bought from Pakistan. You will have two nations that can exchange nuclear weapons effectively at war over beliefs...that can't lead to good outcomes as one of them will have to admit their beliefs were wrong...even if everything works out all the countries bordering Iran and Saudi Arabia have to contemplate their safety in the face of a nuclear armed opponent.
If I now look at the current Iranian regime, I see the hardliners are strengthening their position to a single party state, outlawing opposition, arresting dissidents, creating foreign bogey men to distract the population...all activities we have seen before under the guise of the religion of nationalism...it didn't turn out well then, so I doubt it will turn out well this time.

@Koz
I understand what you're trying to say. As much as I hate this regime, I try to make a distinction between our aspirations as people and our security. I don't need to tell you that we live a dangerous neighbourhood. We made this mistake once when toppling Shah and let our guard down and everybody wanted a piece of us. Let me ask you this: do you think Saddam would have invaded Iran, had we had nukes? Do you think the whole world would supply Saddam with all kinds of goodies and support him in any means possible if they knew that Iran could be lethal to them and could hit them in their hearts? Of course not.
If Mullahs think they can guaranttee their survival with nukes, let them do it. You and I know better... I like to interpret recent events differently: this regime has already got biological weapons and Shahab rockets. Did that help them in any way in their dealings with people in the streets? No.
Recent events just showed me that We Can do it, man. Don't forget that our fathers didn't bring Shah down overnight either. The unrest started in 1340's and climaxed in 1350's.
What I noticed in recent tumult in Iran is that we don't have the right leaders yet. I personally wouldn't want to risk my neck for a scumbag like Mousavi. We need to give it time.

I'm more concerned about those weapons falling into the wrong hands. They could either deliberately be used in order to create a crisis ("blame the foreign evil") or they might be used for ideological reasons ("return of the 13th Imam"). Another problem is that it will allow the regime to consolidate its position, giving it the means to crack down even harder its people.
