ranian boxer Ehsan Rouzbahani has defeated Bahram Muzaffer of Turkey in a round of 16 match of the light heavyweight class of the London 2012 Olympic Games.


The 24-year-old Iranian won the match 18-12 at the Excel Arena in London on Saturday to advance to the next round of the 81-kilogram category of the tournament.

The Iranian edged past the first round 5-4 and the Turkish boxer clinched the second round with a similar result.

In the final round, Rouzbahani gained the upper hand and upped his work rate and Muzaffer could not cope with the sudden injection of pace.

Rouzbahani defeated his Colombian rival Jeysson Monroy Varela in his previous match.

Earlier in the day, Kazakhstan's Daniyar Yeleussinov beat Iranian light welterweight Mehdi Tolouti to secure a quarterfinal berth.

we won all Gold medals in Greco-Roman wrestling yet (55kg,60kg ) tomorrow 65 kg.

but still im not happy with our performance this time, we are just rank 22 right now lol thats nothing....sad

Wrestling is a sport that suits Iranian genetics. Getting gold medals in wrestling is what counts for me. I don't watch other crap personally. It's poorly organised indeed but things like these show the potentional.

watching wrestling right now, in both 66kg and 96kg greco-roman classes Iran just defeated their turk opponents in the 1/8- final , the quarter finals coming up

It's impressive how much we have improved in the greco-roman class in recent years, freestyle was and is the specialty of Iran

And later tonight 22 year old BEHDAD SALIMIKORDASIABI (who is from my province of mazandaran) will take the weightlifting gold in the 105+ class, although i doubt he will break any of rezazadehs olympic or world record.

ABDVALI Saeid Morad lost in the quarter final in the 66kg class

but Ghasem Gholamreza REZAEI (also from my province of mazandaran)in 96kg class made it to the final against Russian Rustam Totrov later tonight (around 19:00 GMT) both very talented and strong athletes, should be an interesting final


Like I said before Behzad salimi took the gold in weightlifting, on top of that Iran also took the silver in the same event

Mr. Salimi broke Rezazadeh's snatch world record in the world championships. He had mentioned in an interview that he would play it safe in the Olympics and just go for the gold medal.

well he did try 264 on the last try when the gold was already secured, not so important though since the records belong to Iran anyways and also he is just 22 years old, so he has plenty of time to make new attempts on records in the future
