1.Sunburn can't even target the US carrier from the big range because the ships can't aquire the target behind horizon.The aircrafts can , yet that far out the missiles pose NO threat at all , they would get shot down even hundrets of them.
2.Getting closer with a ship means the CSG submarines would set a trap for the enemy ship hence destroying it , hence making it a strategy for idiots
3.How the hell are russians going to find a carrier in the open sea , are you a complete idiot, they don't know where it is , where its going , NOTHING , they can not track it by any means.
The best is to use sattelites but the imagry will be hours long before the airforce gets there and the carrier's position substantialy different , the bears can do it but they would get destroyed most of them , so waisting them to sink 1 carrier?
4.sunburn is a big missile that has no chance of penetrating the huge 1000km AEGIS around the carrier defended by all its escorts , carrier , E-2 and F-18'es from the carrier , those missiles would be target practice if they even could fire them , BUT THEY CAN'T, except if they do a suacide mission and risk their AVMF.
5.Best the Russians can do is to sacrifice the whole AVMF and whole SSGN sub fleet to have a chance of sinking 1 carrier at the expence of almost everything they would use....
Let me teach you a lesson what it would take to sink a US CSG ,it's going to take a couple of regiments of Backfires, a regiment of Bears and Oscar SSGN's.
First, they fly their RORSAT over the ocean hoping to find the general position of the strike group, and its general course and speed. Let's say they can tie the CSG down to a patch of ocean, perhaps protecting convoys headed from the US and Canada to Europe. Now with RORSAT imagry in hand it's time to refine the position. For that, they need Bears, lots of Bears.Bear flies out over the Atlantic looking and listening for the CSG. The surviving Bears should radio back the battle group's position and course, not alot of bears would survive.
They would send a couple of regiments of bacfires , they need lots of them. And, that carrier may have moved between the time the surviving Bears located it and when your Backfires get into position to launch. So, it's best to spread your launchers across a wide swath of ocean. (It also spreads the defense out too.) They would need the Oscar SSGN's too. It's tough to communicate with them and not reveal his position to the ASW folks, but if you can maneuver a Oscar into a blocking position it will help your Backfire raid. The chances of that are very slim, but heck lets say it would happen. So, now the bacfires are firing their cruise missiles and the Oscar is firing their own , this means a lot of missiles spread out as far as it can.
They will have better solution sets for their cruise missiles if they can actually get within radar range of the battle group. Of course, this will mean that most if not all your Backfires will get shot down by the F-18Es. But, hey bagging a CVN is worth losing your air force, isn't it? They now launch lots and lots of missiles because the Ticonderogas and Burkes will be shooting down the missiles like it was target practice. Between their own radars, and the E-2, they'll have a good target solution on the missiles, so the ruskies would need to overwhelm them. That's why I said they should bring as many regiments of Backfires as you can. They should also make sure they launch in close, so the F-18s won't attrit your missiles with their own AMRAAMs and Sidewinders. If they launch too far out, they won't have a good enough solution set to get all your missiles pointed at the Carrier and too many of them will be attrited before the SM-2s have at them. In the end, all the ruskies can really hope for is a few missiles will leak through and get hits on the carrier.
Now, they have to get really lucky with your hits on the carrier. Remember, the USN hasn't lost a carrier to enemy action since June 1942. Since then, damage control has become higly evolved. The US carriers are armored now and have excellent compartmentalization.

United, let me say this a slowly as I can so you'll understand it. It doesn't matter if Russia/EU have 10 times the money and everything else. Conquest comes down to one simple thing: The ability to project power. That includes two aspects: 1. the ability to put bombs on the target and boots on the ground, and, 2. the ability to provide logistical support to supply those forces. In both of these categories the EU/Russia combination are woefully deficient.
How are the going to seize harbors and airports? How are they going to land on US beaches? More importantly, how are they going to provide food, fuel and ammunition? The simple answer is that they can't. Case closed.

Mikepapa1, all im saying is with such economy, reserves, account balance and industrial output in shambles the U.S. cannot sustain a military operation to destroy the EU and Russia because just having the forces and logistics is not enough you need money for those weapons, money for the soldiers, money for logistics, money to replace those destroyed weapons, money to sustain the American economy so without the money how can U.S. destroy and fight and all out war with EU and Russia. Just look at how the war on terror put the American economy, account, and reserves in disaray, imagine how worse the economy, industry, reserves and account balance would be in a war with EU and Russia.
My point is America may have more power projection but not the money to pay for it or sustain it. And that if EU and Russia both fully geared up for war with their huge money and gold reserves, the EU's 2.7% industrial output and Russia's 7.4% industrial output in comparison to U.S. .5% output, their huge labor force they have the capability to sustain a war better of than the U.S. can right now, having projection power is nothing if you can't sustain it. The EU and Russia have more money and industrial output to if they wanted to produce the weapons they need to project power they can.

That may be true , but the fact remains , none can invade the other yet the US with its far superior air force , power projection and naval power can deal much more damage to EU and Russia as vice versa.
