SPAIN: OTO MELARA OPENS NEW FACILITY IN VALENCIA
(ANSAmed) - MADRID, OCTOBER 31 - Italian investments in Spain in the defence sector have increased with the opening of a new facility for Oto Melara Iberica S.A.U. in Valencia. The news was released by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Madrid based on sources in the company which spoke of a 3,000 square metre facility that has been operating since September. According to the sources, the Spanish affiliate of the La Spezia company, part of the Finmeccanica Group, is in response to the production needs and future prospects for Oto Melara Iberica. The objective, added the sources, is to become the main point of reference for the defence industry in Spain as well as in other countries. Currently Oto Melara Iberica is working on various production projects, both national and international including building a 120 mm artillery tower for the Sultan of Oman, self guided Vulcan munitions, the Centauro recovery vehicle for the Spanish army, and many other projects.
