I do not think it was in a dive that the top speed was achieved because it would have been noted. UAE are ordering the model in attack variant so it's jut not a trainer.

a transonic aircraft is one who can operate between mach 0.8 amd mach 1.2
the cruise speed for the M-346 Master is 0.96 mach
of course it has yet been tested at a max speed of 1.15 mach
the light attack version is also not officially known as M-346K
but about the attack role the M-346 is a very sophisticated and expensive aircraft, it is the most sophisticated advanced trainer existing in the world at present as it has been specifically drafted for the training of the 4th, 4th and half and 5th generation fighter pilots
for a real attack role it is really too much expensive for countries different from the Gulf Countries and the First World countries would use real attack fighters not light ones in the role, at least that has been the trend yet from the Vietnam war days
most of countries would use cheaper and more expendable trainers for the ligt attack role as the SKorean one who has been drafted essentially as a light attack fighter more then for the training role

mario, you mentioned the M-346K being the light attack version. the UAE has ordered 20 of these in its full order for 48 aircraft. do you have any information on this version? and is the M-346K the official name for the attack version.

@sampaix
??
@elo
the Yak-130 is a different aircraft despite both are developments from a common prototype the Yak - AEM 130
whe nan aircraft is compared you have to look on mission, engines, avionics and airframe
the SK trainer K-50 despite it is a trainer too it is 25% heavier and with very different engines compared to M-346 and this clearly shows it has been drafted for a very different main mission
