A Palestinian youth, residing in Sliema, has been accused of raping a 14-year-old girl. Akef Neji Werd, 22, is also accused of not having followed the officials orders and of having used violence when resisting him. He is also accused of using obscene language and of being a relapser.
Defence Counsel Dr Martin Fenech maintains that his client does not know the girl but Inspector Melvyn Camilleri said that police evidence shows the contrary.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli did not grant Mr Werd bail and he has been remanded in custody in the Corrective Facility in Kordin.
