Tom started playing hockey when he was six years old. In his first year of travel hockey with Clifton Park Youth Hockey Mite A, he finished with a record of 44-14-4. Tom continued with travel, finishing his youth hockey career with the Albany Bantam Storm. In his sophomore year Tom played on the varsity team at Christian Brothers Academy of the CDHSHL. He finished with .925 SV% and a 1.87 GAA. Tom ended the season as the leagues Leading Goaltender and was named to the 1st Team All Star team. He was also named CBA’s MVP. Tom had a successful year in his first year of Juniors with the Albany Jr. River Rats of the CHA. In January he was named to the Junior B All Star team and earned the CHA’s first ever win stopping 41 shots. He was named the CHA Player of the Month for both February and March, the first time the same player has ever won twice in the same season. Tom and his team won the Junior C National Championship, with Tom stopping 25 shots for a 1-0 victory over the Virginia Statesmen. Tom was honored by being nominated as the CHA’s Player of the Year. Tom is an honor student at CBA, and was proud to represent the Adirondack region at the 2006 Empire State Games.
