Nice acquisition for the Red Wings and thanks for keeping us updated "smoothrunning" it's greatly appreciated! Shame that a few more organizations can't realize the benefits of keeeping their fans informed as the Red Wings do! But what's the point? no one visits this stupid forum anyways right? ................ teehee
Oh that's right we've only had 2.25 million hits haven't we? lol

I have heard many many good things about Mr. Ball. This seems like a logical leader for the Red Wings seeing as their leadership nucleus is off to Princeton and Maine for the upcoming season.

I think Mike matured in his year and a half with the otters, He is a very solid d-man and a leader in the dressing room. He asked to be traded because of schooling.
He was playing hurt during last seasons playoffs and is probably one of the reasons Huntsville bowed out early to Stouffville.

Mike is an excellent kid and good hockey player. Good luck Mike in Hamilton. The only question I have for the Red Wings...isn't the new "central divisions" goal to limit 20 year olds on their roster?

Mike is a leader and with the amount of youth on the team. you need a Leader like Mike Ball
There are some smart young players on this team and being able to watch Mike's leadership abilities it will prepare them to help lead next season. With the likes of Steele De Fazio in that room the wings will have what they did not have last year, experience in pressure situations. Wait and see over the next couple of days and you will see the mix of experience and youth. Hamilton will still be under the max. limit for OA's.

There is more coming so much more, I can't wait to see what the new management has , they are only releasing a couple of names at a time. They will be releasing their exibition schedule in a couple of days as well. It seems there is a new direction here with a focus on quality. As for Josh there will be no need for him to fight, that has been addressed.

McQuade fight? Are you serious? I have never seen him fight. He has never been that type of player. He is a talented offensive player with soft hands and can put a lot of points on the board.
Looking at his stats he had 49 minutes in penalties in the season and it looks like he fought once in the playoffs. I don;t think the wings will have to worry about him fighting. Its not his style.

McQuade sure got a lot of stupid penalties in the North semi final against the Tigers. I believe he got thrown out of 1 game of the 5 game series that the Tigers won 4-1.
He definitely did not help the Hurricanes with his antics in that series.

He will be a "calmer" player in Hamilton. He sure would loose it every time he played Aurora. A very entertaining individual when he takes a penalty - the Darcy TUCKER response. And to quote an old Irish song, he speaks "..a language that the clergy do not know." Hopefully the move from the North will be good for Josh & they can channel all that emotion.

dangles im not disputing his skill just his actions not just against huntsville. if you actually knew me you would know i spend more time in newmarket than just when the otters are there.
p.s. he scored 1 goal against huntsville all season.

I may have missed something, but who did Hamilton trade for Josh or was it cash. There is no way they just signed him for nothing. Newmarket would have had to release him and after looking at the holes they have to fill I can't see that happening.

As I said on For the Fans, who's left in Newmarket? With Ramolla's tragic passing, Milne's departure for Alberta and this McQuade deal, it's looking pretty bleak for last year's Dudley hosts and runners up! Hopefully they have a few things up their sleeves to plug their numerous hles otherwise it'll be another loooooong year eerily reminiscent of the season that cost former head coach Jim Wells his job in my opinion!
