| Some shyster named Joe Moore has a now one year old outstanding account totalling approx.$30,000 at a Mississauga sports shop. What are the chances this vendor will get paid? Anyone else been burned by Dixie?
Memo to Joe Moore, answer your phone, respond to your 'e'mail or better yet, pay your bills because the Peel police are about to be called. The Cage dwellers and the hockey community in general are good and honest people who don't appreciate people like you. |

this has been whispered about since last year as well as a lot of other irregularities.
i bet they will fold before the end of this year.
with around twenty bus trips due to the restructuring they will not be able to pay for it.
on the "junior a"-392368 forum it says a lot more of whats rumored around this mess.
most of last years vets are gone. all the billets are on the trade block.
i guess its another case of the league not doing their homework when a new prospective owner steps up.
shame on the league!

I read it and it seems to be more about some grub named Vassos than Dixie and their unpaid debts. |

I was told Dixie had their team in New England (Maine or Vermont?) last weekend for the Woodchuck Showcase. Where did the dough for that come from? or did they charge the players for bus / hotel etc? |

i heard that some of the coaches from last year werent paid.
also that the parents of one of the players is owed money for buying some stuff for the team last year.
last year they said that the players were all supposed to get all new equiptment including skates and that we were being sponsored by reebok.
i guess that they just got the equiptment and then didnt pay clp sports. we all were sent there to get fitted as soon as the main camp was over last year.
the guys that were living at the owners house were the first ones to go there and get fitted.
i wonder if joe quinn knew all of this when he agreed to come to dixie as the coach.

It's time for the League to take responsibility for some of these "owners".
One way would be for CLP to name the OPJAHL in a law suit against the team and the owners. Including putting a writ of seizure on their property specifically the value of the team franchise.
This is the only way that the OP and Jr Hockey will learn that through their partnership in business and accepting their franchise fees with these types of owners they encourage and condone their financial misdealings and poor management.
CLP has been a friend to sports groups in Mississauga for a long time and to hear of this really ticks me off.

thats a great way to stop this crap.
there has to be a procedure put in place that helps stop this.
the due diligence the league uses is obviously lacking and they should have a secure deposit that they can use to guarantee these vendors get paid.
the league could sell players up to the amount owed and give the $$$ to CLP and the team will have to think about making promises they cant keep.
the league knows how much it costs to run these teams. when a new owner meets with them he should be told what the real costs are and what revenues he can expect. all these guys think they are going to step in and be able to pack their rinks full of fans. it doesnt happen so do the math based on the worst case revenue scenario not on pipe dreams.
dont spend what you dont have. |

Great store. Owners are easy to deal with. Things like this shouldn't happen. | |
