After a quiet first period where each team exchanged goals the Wings took over this game and outscored Markham 7-2 in the second. Like the first, the third period produced just one goal for each side.
Nathan Pageau got things rolling for the home team as he flipped in a cross-ice pass from Josh Vella with the Wings enjoying a two-man advantage. The Waxers replied with a powerplay of their own as Jack Caradonna got his first of the season with a slapper from near the faceoff spot.
The second was all Wings. Josh Dadic got his first of two with a wrist shot from right in front of goalie Josh Mrakic to give them the lead which they would not relinquish. Less than a minute later Luke Watson scooped home a backhander after a fine individual effort. Rookie Noah Schwartz made it 4-1 finishing off a nice passing play for his first goal of the campaign. The Wings had lots of chances to clear the puck before Bryan Black scored with a backhand past Carson Hau to cut the home team's lead to two. Captain Mike Ball skated through the Waxers defence to tally his first as a Red Wing and then Zach Hyman also registered his first with a low shot to make it 6-2 and ring the curtain down on the night for Mrakic who was replaced in the Waxer net by Daniel Jones. It took just another minute before he was beaten for the first time as Josh McQuade scored his first of two shorthanded goals after completely 'undressing' the Markham defence. Chris Tanev registered Markham's third two minutes later while his team was enjoying a two-man advantage. McQuade rounded out the scoring for the period with his fourth of the season as he was set up in front by a determined Anthony Ruberto and had a couple of whacks at the puck before getting it past Jones. 8-3 Wings after two.
In the third Dadic tallied his second of the game and fourth as a Red Wing late in the third before Giancarlo Iuorio finished off the scoring with a powerplay goal with just over a minute left.
The Wings despite the big win still looked a little shaky defensively but this should be a big confidence booster for the team coming right after the 'big collapse' against the Buzzers.
McQuade finished with a four point night while Tthe Wings'leading scorer going into the game Joey Diamond was held pointless. It was far from an overly-physical game yet Messers Burchell and McKnight managed to call a total of 72 penalty minutes.
In other games Cobourg handed the Buzzers their second straight loss with a 5-4 home win. Taylor Dudnick got the winner with four minutes left.
The Derbys took a big road win in Vaughan as Brandon Pirri got his second hat trick in as many games. Streetsville took the contest 5-3.

The Wings played well tonight, straight from the get-go too...The referees put the crowd out of it early with the mass amount of penalties, it was sad...Good game for the Wings!
