It took a shootout to decide it but Hamilton moved into number one spot in the Central with a 4-3 win in Stouffville. Josh McQuade's two goals, the only ones of the third period, erased a 3-1 Spirit lead and forced the extra time. His first was scored while the Wings were playing shorthanded. Josh Dadic scored the only goal in the shootout. No points for Bruce Crawford in his debut.
The Blades continue to bounce along in the MacKinnon with a 6-2 win over the Capitals in Brampton and they were led by two goals from Brandan Taylor. Oakville and Burlington are now tied for first place but the Couagrs have played two more games.
The Cougars from Cobourg are on a roll. They won a big one in Newmarket 5-3. Matt Singleton broke a 3-3 tie with the game winner in the third.
Kyle Cantlon earned a shutout in the game of the night in Orillia as the Terriers scored four without reply against the Tigers. Leading the way was Tyler Swan who scored three times and now has seventeen for the season. The win puts the Terriers one point ahead of Aurora in first in the Phillips.
The Voyageurs fended off the BeeHives 4-3 in Kingston. The home club built up a 4-0 lead by the eight minute mark of the second but Dixie came back to make things interesting by the end. They scored number three with just a second left in the third. Leading point scorer Ben Power got the game winner for the Vees.
The Fury would not be subdued against the Stars and it took a shootout to give Peterborough the 5-4 victory. It was a night for the powerplay in Whitby with six of the eight regulation time goals coming by that route. Matt Gauld had two goals and two assists for the Fury while Pier-Olivier Cotnoir tabbed two for the Stars. Trevor McKinney who forced the overtime for the Stars got the only goal in the shootout to give his team the win.
