The Central Division is pleased to announce that the recipient of the B2TV Player of the Month Award for the month of October is Joey Diamond of the Hamilton Red Wings. Diamond in his first season with the Red Wings - was a key contributor to Hamiltons success scoring sixteen goals and eleven assists during ten games played, helping his team to a record of 5-2-3 in October.

As a member of the Omaha Lancers of the USHL during the 2007-2008 campaign, Diamond notched thirteen goals and nine assists in thirty two games while posting a very reliable (+11) rating as a rookie in a highly skilled league. This season with the Red Wings, Diamond has developed into a dynamic offensive player, leading the Central Division in scoring by posting twenty seven goals and fifty three points through twenty three games.

I am really trying to enjoy myself, relax and play consistently, said Diamond, commenting on the reasons for his breakout season. The team chemistry we have on the Red Wings and the players I have the privilege of playing with have made things go well so far.A wildly successful start to the season thus far has provided numerous memorable moments for the native of Long Beach, New York but it was a game between the St. Michaels Buzzers and the Hamilton Red Wings, a 7-1 Hamilton victory on October 24th, which stands out most for Diamond.

That would be the game against St. Mike's this past month where I scored five goals, said Diamond, about his fondest memory thus far with the Red Wings. After taking a big loss earlier in the year to them (10-8) in that unbelievable comeback where Miller scored five on us it was just a huge thrill.

Next season, Diamond will continue his career playing Division I hockey for the University of Maine Black Bears in the NCAA. In the meantime though, continued development and a strong finish to his season with the Red Wings remains at the forefront for Diamond.

I just want to stay healthy this season and play a consistent game, said Diamond. I want to be that reliable go-to guy that will always be productive without having to be streaky and avoid slumps.
