The Whitby Fury would like to thank fans for their patience last night, and once again apologize for the delay in getting the game started. Due to a scheduling glitch at the OHA office, no referee crew had been assigned to the game.

We would also like to thank referees Scott Gray and Paul Renaud, and linesmen Chris Walters and Justin Knaggs for coming out to work the game on a moments' notice. It was a terrific demonstration of the type of dedication these guys have to the game of hockey that they would take time out of their Sunday night to work a game, and it is a shining example of what we should all be appreciating from our referees. Walters and Knaggs are OMHA officials, but since no OHA Jr. A linesmen were available, they were called in to work the game, and did a terrific job.

Now there's a positive story..excellent. I wonder could the game have gone on if only one qualified referee was available?

Before they got the linesmen, they were actually going to go with only the two referees. Not sure about only one though. A lot of people worked very hard to get the game played, because Mississauga to Whitby is a long trip for a Sunday night.

Actually, I felt bad for Mississauga. I got the feeling the delay had the same effect as "icing the kicker" with a quick timeout in football is supposed to have.
