It was a close game for two periods but the Red Wings got it going in the third to put away Toronto 8-2 and stay tied at the top of the Central as the Dukes won 6-5 in overtime in Cobourg.

The only goal of an entertaining first period came from Joey Diamond on a powerplay with three minutes left. Nathan Pageau neatly kept the puck in at the blueline, fed Josh McQuade who found Diamond at the side of the net and although he seemed to not get all of the shot it had enough on it to get past Ryan Wadden. It was number thirty nine's 29th. of the season and came with the Wings having the man-advantage. The tall goalie, who had played well, was hurt on the play. He seemed to injure his knee and he had to leave the game to be replaced by Marc Rinfret, making his debut for the J.C's. Paul Rodrigues had a great chance to tie the game just after the goal but he shot over the net. 1-0 Hamilton after one.

Each team would score once in the second but the Wings had a decided advantage in the play but Rinfret made some big saves and the home team were often guilty of some erratic shooting. The game was tied quickly as Mike Sicilia was right on Dillon Branco's doorstep to tip one in. Cody Wilson's shot from the point rang off the post and then slowly trickled along, but did not cross, the goal line. The Wings went ahead just under twelve minutes in with their nineteenth shorthanded goal of the season as Noah Schwartz broke free of the Toronto defence, his first shot was stopped by Rinfret but he picked up the puck and scored on the second effort. On the same shorthanded situation Pageau was hauled down and awarded a penalty shot which he rang off the goalpost to keep the home team advantage to just one. Also on the same penalty-kill Josh Vella broke clear but was unable to get a shot away. The rest of the period was pretty much one way traffic but nothing to put up on the scoreboard.

The third was all Hamilton even though Chris Gelencser took a pass from Cody Smith and blasted one past Branco for his first goal for Toronto to tie it up at two. In a span of less than five minutes the Wings solved Rinfret to tally five goals. Anthony Ruberto started off the deluge with an unassisted marker with a backhander that bounced in off the goalie. Josh Dadic made it 4-2 as the trailer on the play when he found the net with a quick wrist shot. Diamond tallied goal number thirty as he used Pageau as a decoy on a 2 on 1 and it was a three goal advantage to the red and white. Less than twenty seconds later McQuade's wrister beat Rinfret and the rout was on. It was 'Lone Wolf's 37th. Bruce Crawford redirected a centering pass in front to complete the outburst. Hamilton would wrap up the scoring with Brent McGrail's first for his new team, one of 22 Wings shots of this period.

Branco had a solid start in his home debut and handled the puck with confidence. Ruberto and McQuade ended up with three point nights for the Wings.

So, tell me, when does the coaching start with the Junior Canadians. Their defensive play is absolutely atrocious.

Stafford had some personal issues with the head coach. He asked for a trade about three weeks ago. To his credit, the Toronto GM has been working hard trying to accomodate a trade, but as of yet, none has been completed, and Stafford is back in Buffalo waiting. Have no idea what happened to goalie Edwards.

The kid must have been a complete outcast not to get along with such a self professed icon as Toronto's Head Coach. I mean where else will you find such a fine example of coaching no how as the all mighty one.

Cameron is a real piece of work in Toronto. He does have them playing a defensive system, its called a funnel defence. They funnel as many shots as humanly possible in 60 mins and hope their goalie makes every save so they can turn up the offence. everything that is wrong with hockey can be found on sunday evenings at chesswood rink 1 watch dan c.

Is this the same Cameron who coached in Georgetown in '04 - '05?

There is only one loser bigger then Dan Cameron. That would be Shapiro for thinking he is a coaching god. Dan does run a great scrimage in practice though!!

As for Stafford, his numbers were pretty decent last year.

Yes, it's the same Cameron. That year (2005) the Tigers and Georgetown went 7 games in the North/West final with the Raiders winning the 7th in Georgetown.

As I recall Cameron got tossed out of 2 games and was suspended for one game in Aurora, the 6th game I believe. He showed up at the that game and walked through the crowd taunting Aurora fans almost causing 2 fights in the stands.

The Raiders went on to play the Buzzers in the OPJHL final and Cameron was tossed from 1 game that I saw at SMC in that series. The Buzzers went on to beat Georgetown and win the OPJHL in 2005. The Raiders dropped him in the 2005/06 season.

A real "no class" jerk in my opinion.

...that he was "hired" to coach a Midget or maybe even Bantam AAA club whose players might be playing Jr A about now.

I believe after Georgetown fired him, Cameron went back to coach the Bantam Junior Canadians which I believe is the organization where he started prior to joining the Junior "A" Raiders. I remember Jerome Dupont's Richmond Hill Stars playing against Cameron's Junior Canadians in Minor hockey tournaments.
