How does Georgetown not only make the top 15 but no HM? Oakville makes top 15 and they're behind them by 2 points.

How does a team (Georgetown Raiders)not deserve to be in the National Rankings?
They hold the best winning percentage throughout the OJHL and can't seem to lose. They've gone on a 12 game winning streak and counting! Earlier in season they had a 13 game streak of wins during this time they went from HM to 10th then 8th.
Guess what they dropped to 12th or 15th and we're still winning.
Beating the top teams in the North. The Raiders SPANK Oakville 12-1 and drop within the week!
Doesn't make sense.
Bully on the selection commitee! !

Those rankings are a joke. When trying to make a point try and have your facts correct. When you don't it just makes you look like you don't have a clue. 12-2?

The Show

December 9 2008, 1:10 PM

Scott McWilliam was my guest on SportsZONE Live on Monday night. He is the one responsible for the CJHL Rankings and also works for NHL Central Scouting.

The main points...

-One team from each of the 10 leagues in the CJHL must be on the list
-There is heavy emphasis on a teams last 10 games
-Regulation wins carry more weight than SOW or OTW
-Head to head records aren't necessarily considered in determining the rankings as much as the other factors
-Scott has just taken over recently doing the rankings

We covered a lot in the interview and I am going to try and get it up on TVC website in the next couple of days.

Did he do the rankings? If he did then he just should have said he screwed up. None of the reasoning he gave justified what happened.

The rankings are become more and more of a joke.

Kusa, I hear what you're saying completely. I am just relaying the info that Scott gave out on the show last night. I'm not saying I agree or disagree.

I realize hammer, but with the information he provided, he continually contradicts himself. Anyone with half a brain can see this. Another thing i dont understand is how Georgetown was in the rankings, and rising, yet, they were dropped out with no reasoning whatsoever. Its a joke. Georgetown also has a better winning percentage than the #1 ranked Spruce Grove Saints. I realize that it is based on the competitiveness of the division, but its getting a little bit pathetic. Does one get payed for doing this? hope not.

And Matty, i had to do it! Sorrry! HA

Cheers!

Just in case anyones been asleep for a while, this is a topic that drives me absolutely nuts! How the hell can a team that has not one, but TWO lengthy winning streaks NOT even gain one stinking spot in the standings? Again, as you all know, I am anything BUT a homer, in fact I have been reminded on occasion that I'm in fact a little too hard on the Raiders, but conversly this is insane!

Quite honestly Hammer, even if I had been home I wouldn't have watched last nights show even with your endorsement. There is "NO" amount of rationalization/justification that could possibly support such neglect!

I could not agree with you more, Tony.

But the rankings are what they are.

It really does make one wonder about what possible motives there are for rankings that would seem not to make a lot of sense to a lot of people.

I pay more attention to Kusa and Wexdog top 10 rankings posted here in the cage and on For The fans By The Fans .

I think we all understand the rankings have bias and favoritism, which is completely unavoidable due to the nature of the rankings. We have seen many examples of teams not rising when they should rise, not fall when they should fall and not be included when they should be. However, I cannot remember a time when a team was dropped completely from the rankings and they did not even lose a game. Usually it takes the rankings weeks to drop a team. I can understand the rankings overlooking a team on the rise because lets be honest there are 300 some odd teams in Canada (maybe more) and how can you possibly track every thing going on. The point is though that Georgetown was already ranked. If you are not even going to evaluate the 20 teams that are already included in the rankings then why bother even doing it in the first place?

Matty, not to upstage you, just pointing out for the record, there are only 145 teams in the CJAHL accross Canada.

1) BCHL - 17
2) AJHL - 16
3) SJHL - 13
4) MJHL - 11
5) SIJHL - 6
6) NOJHL - 8
7) OJHL - 37
8) CJHL - 11
9) LHJAAAQ - 14
10)MJAHL - 12

Total - 145

Rankings

Score 5.0 (1 person)
December 9 2008, 3:52 PM

The rankings mean nothing, until the top teams in each league play each other there is no true value to them. Yes they are nice to look at and gloat if your team has been ranked but other than that they have little substance. There is no doubt in my mind that the following OJHL teams should be on the list somewhere. These teams all have a win % of .800 plus. I would just like to see an OJHL team do what only the Aurora Tigers have managed to do ( 2 times this decade ). Win the Royal Bank. Good Luck!!
