Wondering why they needed to sign a new goalie. Instead of bringing up an AP kid to back up last night. The only reason I can think of is that their starter is hurt. Anyone have any insight to this signing.

Tell me again...why is this different than any other Daddy looks after son plan? I'm curious how this one instance is any different just because it happens to be Georgetown this time. Same old same old far as I'm concerned. The leagues problems continue. This is another example.
I may be wrong, but certainly one can understand the skepticism...in this league at least. It's rampant.
A legitimate OHL prospect? So are all the others, if you ask their Dad.

I am wondering where you got the news of the Raiders signing a new goalie.
Their back-up goalie Kevin Campbell played last night and did fine job. Michael Nishi, a call-up, was on the bench. Tony Capobianco didn't dress but was at the game to receive an award for Player of the Month.

Gentlemen
I was told by a Raider source " and he is a very reliable source" that young Mr. Nishi was going to dress as the backup goalie for last night game vs. Vaughan.
Tony Capobianco had to write an exam at U of T and was told not to hurry himself to write the exam, just so he could get back in time for the game. That is why he was in civies to get his award for "Player of the Month".

Thats good to hear. It would be a shame to see Georgtown go the way of Milton. Georgtown has worked very hard over the past ten years to establish a winning tradition and a very loyal fan base.

I don't think I would feel as optimistic. Maybe Nishi's kid is a legitimate Minor Midget (93's) AAA goalie, but I sure as heck wouldn't want my son to be a Georgetown goalie next year.
From what I am hearing #9 & #31's dads are as bad as they come with manipulation, coach firings, nepotism as you see with some Junior teams (Milton & Streetsville). One kind of got caught bad mouthing team-mates & other goalies as well on a N54 site.

If that is true then the Georgetown Raiders should be applauded. These are the type of moves that make the difference between a class organization and an also ran.

I've just checked pointstreak and I can't see a player wearing number 31 on the Raider team. If that bit of "info." is incorrect, can we safely believe the reference to #9? Please get your facts straight or make it clear if you were NOT referring to the Raiders. Puleeez.

As long as his Dad's around it's certain he'll be in the league next two seasons, that's a no brainer. Kid could be a plug and he'd be there. Problem is, the league has encouraged wide skepticism because of rich Daddy's paving the way for their kids. Young fellow may be a good goalie, if not, Georgetown will suffer same fate as Milton is now. And eventually kids and Dads like these suffer greater disapointment in the end anyway. The money and nepotisim can only carry you so far.

Let me tell you this Ted is a great owner and he is real, he knows where his Son should and should not play. I know for a fact Ted would not even think of putting his Son in a position he was not ready for. Mike is a very good goalie and is climbing the ladder one rung at a time. \the Son will be drafted and already has a number of OHL teams interested. The reason Georgetown is having such great success is because Ted puts his Hockey Club first and makes Hockey decisions, he would not hurt his Son or his Sons' future nor would he jeapordize his Hockey Club. Watch Mike will do his own talking on the ice please do not prejudge. Good Luck Mike.

Point well taken. I tried to address the issue of parent owners in the league and perhaps I went a bit far and my comments seemed more like an attack. Not my intention. I do hear very good things about Nishi as an owner. If you know better and it's as you say, then great for the kid and he'll end up where he should. In other circumstances I have knowledge of, this isn't the case. The Milton situation for example is just plain wrong and bad for the league, players and fans. There is a problem in this league with Daddy owners, that's not a prejudgement, it's a fact. I don't have a solution... it's difficult problem. However, it's hurting many palyers, the league and the fans who lay down the admission fees to watch legitimate Jr. A calibre palyers.

You are right but the solution is be real and be truthful, why would you put a Family member in a position they are not ready for, I think a lot of people would of had more respect for the ownership had they bought the club and left their boys to play Midget and the following year given them a fair shot but again be real and if they were still not ready face the reality of the situation.

Ted in Georgetown is a class act and gets it. Yes he has a kid who plays AAA, and will one day be a Raider. Knowing the organization and the person, I would bet that it will be when he is ready to play there and not when he is eligible to play there.

That's would be opposite of normal right now in this league. I can however think of some positive examples opposed to the gong show unraveling in Milton.
On a positive note, recall a few years back Chad and Wess Weisman for example? There are legit player/father (very few) stories from the league but it comes down to fathers having hockey sense. I would suggest a father who played at a high level wouldn't put his kid in this situation. They know better. They know there is eventually a wall at the end of the road. It's then... when the money can't buy a pro deal or get a US scholly (and these are shrinking quickly) that these sub performing kids suffer big time and become burned out prodigys of some dreaming Dad's imagination. No plan, no school, no Daddy...and they flounder. I would bet most of the poorer examples right now in the league come from fathers who played little hockey or know very little of the game. A genralization, but I bet if you check the backgrounds of these owners you'd see a theme.
Who are the other father/son teams from the league that made it pro or were by a general opinion considered legit? Can you think of many others?
I would end by wishing Nishis luck. I truly hope you prove me wrong, and I will gladly "eat crow".
