The player selection is a combined effort of the CJHL and NHL Central Scouting. Seven of the prospects on Team East were listed as "Players to Watch" by NHL Central Scouting in October 2008.

I would not pick ANY owners kids or coaches kids!!!!
Just for integrity ALONE. If you think those are ALL the best we have both you and the league are in trouble!

Mr. Zdrilich, if you are going to come onto a fan forum and rip on kids and explain why your son, amongst others, is better and should have been picked to play in the prospects' game, you should learn how to post without showing your email address in your post. It's been my experience this type of thing causes very hard feelings when one parent (you) rips on guys who play with or against your son. I know, I know what's coming next. Someone else in the family used your email account to post that. It wasn't you. Of course not. Final piece of advice, take it for what it is worth, parents are supposed to make their kids' lives easier, not more complicated.

Wexdog - not true at all ! Hate to burst your bubble, but in our league (OJHL), it's NOT always the best. Yes Pirri is very good and belongs, however, many picks are very questionable. Previous writer made some excellent picks ( Sardella, Morley, Zdrilich, ect...) as for defensemen, is Quinn really the best we have to offer, or is his dad promoting him selfishly at the cost of others? I would pick a dozen other kids before him. Hmmmm, daddy works for the 'scouting service' , do you suppose that has something to do with his being on the team? or the many PHANTOM points that he and some others seem to accumulate at the expense of their TEAMates . In any case , it's just another case of whats wrong with junior A hockey here in Ontario. Is this why many of our best are and have left to play in BC or Alberta ? hmmmmmm.

Hey lets not forget, another father/son combo, Vassos was also picked for this team. Even though he has only played 8 games this year.
I really don't know the pre-requisites are for the selections. But it does say, "showcase game of the best NHL draft eligible Canadian Junior Hockey League players "
Unless things have very recently changed Norht American players who turn 18 by September 15 and are not older than 20 by December 31 are eligible for selection.
Using that criteria, Nick Quinn is in-eligible since he will only be 17 by September 15th. In addition using the "not older than 20" criteria. If you really think the selections were the "best NHL draft eligible Canadian Junior Hockey League players", your head is stuck firmly up your butt.
Too many coach/owner/player relationships for my liking, once again, for the selections.

Some NCAA scouts were also in attendance and I'm just wondering if a guy like Quinn would catch their eye.
As far as Vassos, while he only has been able to play 8 games so far, he did pick up 12 points. When he was selected, there may have been hope he would be healthy by the time the game rolled around.

I don't need to hide or am I trying. I also never said the boys chosen where not good players. It's the appearance I question and MAYBE there are some boys that where overlooked.
