The Spengler is a five team tournament held each year in Davos, Switzerland.
Each team will play each other once with the two top teams facing off for the championship.
Canada are the defending champions, defeating SYU(Russia) 2-1 in last year's championship game.
Canada's first win at the Spengler came in '84 followed by back to back wins in '86 and '87. Canada did not win again until 1992, then in 1995 won the first of four in a row(95-98). 2000 and 2001 saw runner up status for our side. Wins again in '02, '03 and runner ups in '05, '06.
The first ever Spengler Cup tournament was in 1923. Oxford University defeated Davos. Most, if not all, of the Oxford team was made up of Canadians going to school in England including the future Prime Minister of Canada Lester Pearson and Clarence Campbell who was to become NHL president.
