Ok first I want to say that I thought that everyone that was posting threads about how many phantom points Justin Baker was getting this season were just trying to stir things up, but now I know that it is true. My only question is how are they able to do this when they are not the home team. For example in Friday nights game, January 2nd between Milton and streetsville, Thomas Barks scored an unassisted power play goal at 14:45 of the second period. This was posted on point streak and the game was posted as final. When I seen this I said to myself (theres an open spot that they can't possible give a phantom point to Baker) as the game has been finalized and it is not a Streetsville home game. Now I had read on a previous thread that streetsville was somehow able to do this even if it isnt there home game, so I decided to go back the next day, to Friday nights game summary just to satisfy my own curiosity, and surprise, surprise there has been a phantom point added to Thomas Barks unassisted goal to (wait for it) none other than Justin Baker.

Now as a former point streak score keeper I know that sometimes a player would come to me during the game and tell me that they got the assist on a particular goal and I would tell them to go to the ref and let him know. Then if the ref came to me and told me to add the assist I would do so. But once the game was finalized and the information had been sent through to point streak, the only way to make any changes to the scoring summary was to E- mail or phone the Point streak administrator.

So my next question then, is Daddy Baker calling point streak every time and telling them to add points to his sons' stats? And if so to what end? Surly he can't believe that this is going to help his son. Or has he been manipulating his sons hockey career for so long that he has become delusional? Or is he just so arrogant that he thinks that no one would notice? Or perhaps he thinks that everyone is just stupid?

Enough is enough; it is time that these kinds of thing come to an end. It is a farce and it is lowering the credibility of the Point streak system and of the league. A league I might add, that already has little or no credibility.

The only question remaining is, does the executive of this league have the balls to do something about this? Or are they going to cram there collective heads up there a#@es like they do with every other touchy situation that involves this league? And the daddies that really run things? I suspect that this is both something that will not be dealt with and will continue to be common practice.

The other thing that kills me is the shots on goal. What a joke on some nights. If you cant count then dont keep stats.

Musicman,

I'm going to stay away from the phantom point issue.

However, what I will say is under league rules, team officials can make requests for change.

As you mentioned, the proper procedure during the game is for the captain to make a request to a referee. Most times, the refs will do what is asked. However, sometimes players are not aware of the errors until after the game.

There is a need for team officials to make changes after the game is finalized in pointstreak as there tends be a lot of input errors. You can't catch them all but team officials do indentify a few. Wrong scorers, wrong goalie or failure to make a change, incorrect players playing etc.

It does open the door for abuse of that system but there is definitely a need for team official to make alterations.
