don't forget the suspension of Joe D'Elia. From my count that now leaves 2 players from last years team ending this season. They are worse off now than they were at the start of the year. They need to do some heavy recruiting this offseason if they are going to make any kind of move. With a current coaching record of 10 win and 69 loses in 83 games they should also look at making a move on the head coach and coaching staff.

with their program requirements they have a harder time recruiting not to mention they dont have a big budget to buy a team.

have spoken to numerous players who say coaching staff are top notch just a lack of recruiting.

peca is a great guy. class act.

your right wing fan. no coaching and recruiting. its hard to start up with nothing and compete with better and more experieenced clubs.

this year the knights got rid of 12 of the returning kids - why? i dont want to lose, i dont want to try, i want to play with my friend. bunch of crybabies with terrible attitudes. it really is too bad, at the end of last season they had a great young nucleus with potential to improve on their initial season. that is all gone and replaced with new kids who really do try, but they are aa bantam players at best. they will end up being worse this season.

the recruitng staff and extra scouts are in place for next year to bring some decent talent to the team, but will talented players come and help turn the team around.... who knows.

the coaching staff's record speaks for itself. probably just waiting until the season is over and they will all be gone.

joe d'elia was traded to streetsville this evening - another bad apple - terrible attitude - gone, delassandro - another selfish useless player - at least last year he fought and stirred up the team, this year you hardlt knew he was on the ice.

peca is a class act craigshaw but his record speaks for itself. no way he will be back next year. looking at the roster, no way any of these guys should be back - they should be ashamed of themselves. i really think a bantam double a team could give these sorry excuses for hockey players a run for their money.

there are so many organizations with managements troubles - trenton, milton, collingwood, streetsville, etc, etc. the knights dont have that problem, players are well taken care of. but the players themselves are TERRIBLE.

When your owner bought the Knights, didn't he say it was going to be a 5 year plan?

A volunteer(?) for a team openly slanging every player that leaves the organization. Not good.
Anyone reading this from the Villanova team should reel in Joe.

Joe, you are not doing your team any favors by kicking a player as he goes out the door.

craigshaw and wexdog

these posts were made by mg, not joe. joe leaves his name when he posts. there are other people in the organization other than joe.

in regards to the comments, yes the owner did commit to a 5 year plan, however when the players you invest your time in as a coach in year 1 only to turn around and quit and want out for the various reasons above, what else can you say. its very easy to see who these clowns are, just look at who the knights have released or traded this year that were with the team last year.

the knights lost the entire 2nd year of development when all 12 of these players quit on peca and the organization. d'elia was the last one and no he wasnt being bashed, what was said is the truth.
peca has now had to completely start all over again and the team is worse - so a 5 year plan has become a 6 year plan - why - not because of peca but because of something common in this league - selfish bad attitude players that dont care. it happens on most of the teams, the kids now feel they are gods - ya right with 9 wins in 70 games some of them stroll around with their heads above the clouds.

joe does many good things for the organization, so dont jump on him on comments made by others.

mg - not joe

heres a few suggestions for villanova if they ever want to compete at this level.
cut the restrictions from the school as it goes to the running of the team!
hire a veteran gm and coach with a track record in finding players.
spend the money to be a first class op for the players.
get out of york so people dont freeze and get into a community rink that will create a fanbase.
realize that it is now much harder to get better because of the rotten record and you will need to be very creative in finding talent. this will mean billets and perks.
you will not ever keep your young players long enough because their goal is to go further and the scouts dont have the time to watch this calibre of team unless you get lucky and get a kid that blossoms quickly. as they get older and realize that the clock is ticking it is only natural to want to go to a better team that has scouts around and has someone working the schools on behalf of the team.
this will mean a higher budget and if the will and the money isnt there then get out and put a good high school team at villanova and enjoy that.

thanks wingfan for the comments.

to answer

- money is being spent at villanova, this is not a cheap operation, the budget is not small, more than most
- agree on york - it is like a freezer
- agree on veteran coach and gm, current coach not experienced or tough enough
- does take time as estock mentioned 5 years to start from nothing
- team is working through getting recruiting and scouts on side
- relationship with scool is not a problem, talent and lack there of is
- will take a few kids to see that program is building, at least they get to play at villanova, no owners sons, politics, etc.
- team has tried this on ice approach for 2 years now, maybe time for owner to look at another on ice direction - coaching, etc.

wexdog

the login is shared by a few in the organization

to answer your question

then why would you want someone with that type of an attitude on your team? if they dont knock, then someone else can be their psychiatrist. the kids and their expectations (same on most if not all teams) are the issues, the knights just dont have talented players.

I did not relize Joe and MG are two different people. You are both using the same login.

MG, why not make up your very own login so it is easier to know which one is posting.

So ... MG, you typed ...

"selfish bad attitude players that dont care. it happens on most of the teams, the kids now feel they are gods - ya right with 9 wins in 70 games some of them stroll around with their heads above the clouds."

I bet that will have players knocking down your door to play for the Knights.

To Joe, I am sorry.

I never said the Knights had a five year plan. MG confirmed the owmer of the Knights stated they had a five year plan.

I would never tell my players there was a five year plan.

easy to blame the players in this one but lets lay the blame where it should be at the feet of the organization.

1. returning players has zero contact with the coaching staff throughout the summer unless they were skating at his private lessons. 2 players had to find out from other players when training camp started.
2. one player left after camp because he had been accepted to university and when his family weigh their options it was better to leave.
3. zero recruting in the summer - ZERO. if players don't find the team, the team will find the players.
4. get the entire story on delia and dellesandro before you guess what happened. Delia had been asking for a trade for months because he was tired of being hit with 55 shots a game
5. the team is spending a fraction of what they spent last year. Expect that to continue going forward.
6. Cut ties with the school, went to a few games and they don't support the team so what is the point of being with them
7. In minor hockey circles they have lost all credibility and will only get the 2nd and 3rd tier players. The only expection to this is if a tier 1 player goes to villanova then he may play for the team.
8. expect the same type of exodus from this group of players next year if there is not a fundamental change.

just stating the facts as they are. I call it as i see it. Just reviewed the team website and say you they have listed as scouts. if they truely believe that group will unearth them players they have more problems they first thought. They want to get better clean out the staff bring in experience and start all over again. Otherwise they are just spinning their wheels in quicksand
