Jan 11..rosters set..ten games on tap..

Aurora and Huntsville both have home games and neither want to lose any ground to the leading Terriers in the Phillips. The Tigers host Collingwood and should overcome the Blues..4-2 and the Otters host the selfsame Terriers in what should be the game of the day..this one obviously will be close and I'll take Couchiching 5-4 possibly OT.

Ajax takes on the hapless Knights and the Attack players should be able to fatten their point scoring..8-2.

North York's home record is strong and they turn back the BeeHives with a little bit of ease..6-2.

Bowmanville have won eight of their past ten games and look to beat the Fury 4-1.

Kingston lead Lindsay by six in the Ruddock and look to extend that by beating the Predators 4-1.

Surely the Derbys will win a 'home' game in regulation before the season ends (they have won three in extra time) and for no apparent reason I pick them to crush Orangeville 5-3.

Rivaling the Huntsville/Couchiching matchup for 'game of the day' will be the Vees in Lindsay. A win by Kingston would mean an 8 point lead on top of the Ruddock and almost certainly assure them of first but the Muskies are not dead yet and win 3-2 in regulation.

Toronto look to complicate matters more at the top of the Central as they beat Stouffville 7-4.

The Wings, now minus McQuade, have a 'must win' against the Buzzers who have won just three of their last ten. Hamilton looks to end a four game losing streak, the last two in shootouts.

Don't be surprised to see Stouffville upset Toronto. If they do, the reason will be Kori Coehlo in the Spirit net.

I only saw his win against the Buzzers but apparently he was also the big reason for the Spirit victory over the Dukes at the Newmarket Showcase. I think he is at or very near the top of the crop of Central goalies.

Ron, if Stouffville had been playing all season like they are now, Coehlo would definitely have been the best in the CD at least until Jason Guy came on the scene. If I had to rate the CD goaltenders right now, I would go with Guy 1st, Coehlo 2nd and Jones 3rd.

Coelho is definitely the real deal. I remember seeing him play as an AP for the Waxers and have wanted to see him back in the uniform ever since. He could end up stealing a series from a team come playoff time.

Shiver me timbers...the Red Wings go down to their fifth setback in a row as they were edged this afternoon by the Buzzers 4-3. Greg Miller had a goal and three points for St. Mike's and Eric Axell added three assists. Nick D'Agostino tallied the winner with five minutes remaining. The Wings will try to get back on their winning ways as they host the Junior Canadiens on Monday night.

Addendum/omission to the Wings at Buzzers game..Reilly Smith got two for the Buzzers, the Mimico native now has 21 goals and 57 points second on the team in his first full season as a Buzzer.

Ok...there is no way this ONE PLAYER (McQuade) was the only reason Hamilton won what they have so far this season...I still believe we should've kept Hau instead of acquiring Branco..

GUH!

I'm with you Dave, could never see what the Red Wings saw in Branco. Against us he was "run of the mill" at best, pulled in 1 game at the end of the 2nd after letting in 7 goals.

The Attack did the expected this afternoon as they came out ahead of Villanova 5-2. Mark D'Alessandro who was recently moved from the Knights to Ajax had a pair for his new club. Blake Boddy also registered two and has 22 so far. Ian Watters added three helpers to the cause.

Jon Whitelaw tabbed his eighth shorthanded goal this season for the Otters but they still needed an overtime unassisted goal by Corey George to seal the win 4-3 over the Terriers. Matt Smyth scored twice for Couchiching, also one shorthanded, and he now has 31 for the season. Over 550 looked on and left happy.

Fourteen goals in North York almost as many as the total number of spectators. The home team ended up with a two goal advantage. Eight different scorers for the Rangers with Peter Rodrigues nailing the winner and adding two assists. David King had the hat trick for the BeeHives and Justin Monaghan had a pair.

I Don't know why you guys are scepticle of Branco. Anyone who has seen him play in Milton or Streetsville his first year know he is a very capable goalie. Just because he had a bad game against the buzzers doesn't mean the wings made a mistake. He has been out with an injury for all of the wings recent loses, so why blame him. The wings obviously know what they were doing when they used their last card to acquire him. He and Vallorani basically upset the wings themselves in the playoffs last year. Don't critize the kid for having a bad game, you watch what he will do for the wings. He has had little time to adjust to the cd and his new team and now with this injury it just isn't fair to blame the wings misfortunes on him. Don't understand how you can do that. Ask around the league, Dillon Branco is a bonified starting goalie and you will see.

The Fury surprised the Eagles 6-3 in Bowmanville. Michael Shirley had two goals and four points to lead them. Michael Purcell had a goal and three points.

No mercy on the Predators from the Voyageurs, the final was 9-4. In front of 631 fans in Port Hope Dustin Walsh led Kingston with two goals and he now has 13 points in just 5 games for his new team. Steve Evans also chipped in with a pair while Adam McAllister and Ben Power each had a goal and four points. Michael Best had a pair for the Predators. Jeremy McCarty assisted on all the Port Hope goals while Ian De Long had three helpers.

The Derbys could not hang on to a 4-2 lead and ended up going down at home to Orangeville 5-4. Robert Visca had the tying and winning goals. Thomas Bark scored a pair of tail-waggers for Streetsville. Steven Beyers had a goal and a four point night for the Crushers.

As one would have expected the Peterborough v. Lindsay contest was a closely fought game which went to a shootout. In regulation Jordan Forfar had two for the Stars to bring the Sutton native up to 15 so far. Kevin George's 27th. of the season got the Muskies into extra time with a goal with just under four minutes to go in the third. Peterborough got the extra point to move within three points of the home team. Matt McCann recently arrived from the Spirit tagged the decider in the shootout.

The Junior Canadiens are now just three points out of top spot in the congested Central. They doubled Stouffville 6-3 at the Chesswood arena. Captain Jared Docking took things into his own hands with two goals and two assists. He now has 24 goals and 71 points. The Spirit had a 3-1 lead but Toronto exploded fro five without further reply.

How come it is now the top 5 teams? it used to be the top 6 teams. By the end of the season it will probably be the top 3 teams.

Since 8 teams make the playoffs, why not compare the top 8 teams and get a difference of 34 pts in the CD. Has the CD completely written off St Mikes, Cobourg and Stouffville. Let's wait and see what the differeces are at the end of the season when all the games in hand are made up. I think your so called "parity" will crumble a bit.

Oh, and by the way Estock, factual numbers were one of my businesses.

Stouffville is on a bit of a hot streak. It would only be fair to judge with the most accurate numbers.

As for Stouffville and Cobourg.

Cobourg is 20 points out and Stouffville is 34 points out

7th place in the other divisions is an average of 35 points out of 1st.

8th place in the other divisions is an average of 40 points out of first place.
