Is there anything official on the OJL website regarding the folding of Trenton and the way scheduled games would be handled and whether points scored against them would stand etc. etc.?

They have all been recorded as 1-0 wins for the other team. Goal awarded to New Player unassisted.

The league sent a memo to all OJHL executives the day Trenton folded, confirming the cease of operations and stating all remaining games would be 1-0 victories for the teams scheduled to play Trenton.

Kev, let's just say for the sake of argument that I am not an OJHL official, which in actuality I'm not so that part's easy, but an average Joe the Plumber, or Glenn the farmer or Jim the teacher, or Ron the retiree who does not know about this forum or Wex's almost equally solubrious forum and manages to get the OJHL webpage up or, more probably, looks at the standings in the local paper. One might then wonder why Trenton has it's games 'postponed' and why other teams are getting points..in other words..does the OJHL care about the average fan? It's a competitive world for the entertainment dollar and I'm not surprised so few people attend games that offer the best hockey value around!

Re: "does the OJHL care about the average fan?" ..... The number one question of all time Ron! With an equally as important yet definitive NO as the answer!

The truth is Ron, that these geriatric fossils never have and never will give a damn about US Joe average fans! If they gave a rats ass the least bit, they would at the very least make themselves accessible to our concerns, suggestions and enquiries!

In reality it's much more attractive and less of a pain in the ass for these codgers to avoid conflict and brush us off rather than face the music and consider OUR collective grievances!

The easier, softer way is to ......

Fu**

Everything

And

Run

rather than .....

Face

Everything

And

Recover

I understand the frustration Ron. I got my start in this league almost 10 years ago for being very vocal about the lack of information sharing. I've made it my personal mission over the years to share what I can. Obviously, some things can't be public knowledge.

A lot of good things have happened over the years but much more can be improved.

Remember, they are still a lot of the old school people out there who believe the sharing of information has more drawbacks than rewards. It's kind of similar to the school of thought of a "lower body injury".

Also remember when people issue press releases, they like the information to be positive. It doesn't look good on the league for potential new players, recruiters, sponsors etc. to read the headline that a team folded mid season.

Cash,

I was speaking from an information sharing standpoint.

Let's go back 10 years. The League website was just text stats and standings. The stats were updated once or twice a month. The standings a few times a week. The results, you had to call into a phone line after 11PM. In the playoffs, fans found out the results sometime the next day on-line. 4 or 5 teams had websites. There were no press releases, no transactions, no nothing.

Fast forward 10 years and notice the information at your finger tips.

Can a lot more be done? Absolutely. However, people tend to forget this a league and teams run by volunteers who have real jobs and families that have to come before hockey. Personally, I've donated probably 7000-8000 hours of my free time and lost close to ten thousand dollars of my own money to help.

kev, with all due respect the "accomplishments" you listed were driven not so much by the league as they were by the fans laughing at the mockery the opjhl had become (and honestly still is) in junior a. with our number of teams and resources ("junior a hockey at its finest") we should be blowing away our peers across canada. in fact, we have largely signed over our league to poinstreak to run and are paying what i presume to be a heck of a whole lot of money for that and getting what really?

compare!

BCHL 16 Teams http://www.bchl.bc.ca/
AJHL 16 Teams http://www.ajhl.ab.ca/
OJHL 37/29 Teams http://www.opjhl.ca/

its as simple as sesame street.."which one is not like the others"
