Is Curtis Renaud. Can someone please tell me why!! this young man doesn’t have a solid scholarship offer yet? He possesses all the tools to be an impact player at either the D1 or D3 level. Curtis is one of the fastest players I have seen in this league, he sees the ice incredibly well, he handles the puck very well and he makes passes that are usually right on target. He doesn’t mind going into the dirty areas, like the corners and the front of the net. He is a tremendous forchecker; he never gives up on the play (in both ends of the ice). He plays both the power play and the penalty kill. He has six shorthanded goals and is leading the team with 28 goals.
Like I said he is one of the fastest skaters I have seen in this league, but what is impressive about Curtis is his ability to handle the puck and make plays at full speed. So again, I ask why!! this young man doesn’t have a solid scholarship offer in his pocket yet. I know one thing for sure the Icehawks ownership is not promoting him, and I guess most of us know why that is. He is an A student so it’s not a question of grades. I invite anyone to come out and watch Curtis play, and tell me he doesn’t have what it takes to play NCAA hockey

Sorry to inform you qwertypoiuytr but your comments were inappropriate and border on slander/defammation! Unless you have unsubstatiated evidence proving your findings, I am left with no other option than to delete such potentially damaging comments!
Not only do your comments launch unfounded accusations against a certain individual, but in doing so also reveal the identity of the young player (his son) involved, which is definitely a no, no here "In The Cage". I trust you understand? If you have any questions regarding this decision please drop me a line.

I have to diagree to a certain degree. Ncaa scouts come to the games, they ask to speak to the players they like at that perticular game. The coaches and GM have no say who gets a scholarship and who doesnt. To attack a kid because his dad owns a team is one thing but to suggest recruitors for NCAA take some sort of vote or take this guy and he is in is wrong. I understand you may be upset as a player

I just wanted to clarify something In regards to what I said in my original post, what I meant (and I should have been clearer) when I said
"I know one thing for sure, the icehawks ownership is not promoting him, and I guess most of us know why that is"
was that the owners are only concerned with how much ice time their sons are getting, not promoting other players. As I stated in previous posts, I place the blame for what has happened here in Milton squarely on the shoulders of the ownership.
These boys are playing the best they can, and working as hard as they can, but they are over matched most of the time. What everyone has to remember is they are only sixteen years old, and given far to much ice time for their present skill level. A good coach never deliberately places a player in a situation in which they dont have a chance to succeed. I know that the coaches are doing what the owner/ GM is telling him to do.
This team has lost a number of good players this year because of this situation, but none of it should be placed on the shoulders of two sixteen year olds.
Now as far as what you posted qwertypoiuytr, first you were out of line and Tony was right to delete your comments, for the most part you missed my point. It is a shame that a player like Curtis Renaud doesnt have a solid offer yet. You also mentioned that I should promote him by contacting scouts myself, I only wish I had those kinds of connections, however I do know a couple of gentlemen that do, and I will be in contact with them to find out if they would be willing to help this young men. I hope that I have made myself clear now and I apologize for any misunderstanding.
Just one more thing before I end this post, I think that Curtis Renaud should be considered for player of the month in the Mackinnon Division. In 11 games in January Curtis had 10 goals and 10 assists that included 4 power play goals and 2 shorthanded goals (6 SH on the season) and 2 shorthanded assists. I thought I would through that in there because Im sure the ownership wont be promoting him for this award, in fact I would be surprised if they are even aware of this young mans achievements for the month or the season for that matter.

Okay Musicman I have had enough of your ownership bashing!! There have been plenty of mistakes made this year mostly to do with the ownership. However, you know who is behind them, so stop making it sound like BOTH of them are on the same page!!! Stop classifying both of these owners kids in the same category. ONE always gets more icetime, is on for every penatly kill and every powerplay and if you are at every game you know who it is. So try and be really fair when you post your updates; everyone else at the arena sees it!! Set it straight, it is NOT both owners that have only their kids best interest at hand; but unfortunately one is taking the other down with him!!!!
You would have to be a complete idiot to not see that Renaud is an outstanding player with a very bright future!!! Iam most confident that both owners are aware of this.
Also, you may want to check your facts, Renaud has been recognized, whether he has taken what he has been offered has solely to do with him.

most teams dont do much to promote players
some teams have people in a position to help the kids through the process but not many.
the teams rely on the kids to join up with cardinal sports to do the marketing for them.
they do a good job but have tons of clients and conflicts .
i know that aurora has a dedicated person as i have seen him at games working with coachs in the stands.
alberta and bc leagues have school liasons on staff and the teams work hard for their players.
thats one of the reasons they are getting a ton of scholarships in the west.
most teams leave it up to the coachs and gms to look after that part as well but they dont have the time to be proactive. they will respond to contacts as they can
you need to find someone that will go out and push the product!!!!

i am the education advisor for the aurora tigers and know that a lot of kids feel that they are being overlooked.
i work very hard at helping the kids and families with the ins and outs pros and cons of the scenarios available to the players and the realities of the college hockey programs cost scholarships etc.
i do not get the kids scholarships.they get them! i can ask the schools out to come out and watch and work with the schools to find a fit for their programs and academic requirements. this makes the process smoother.
yes i do know a lot of the coaches and they will call me looking for a particular position player. in fact it has happened twice today. i will direct the coach based on the knowledge i have in whatever area they are looking for and the academic needs to attend a particular school.
it takes a long time to learn the peramiters of this process and develop the trust and relationships with the coaches . teams cant just sat that we have joe smith and he will get you a scholarship. it doesnt work that way.
heres what you can do..
get the best marks possible it opens many more doors.
train hard and be coachable..its always a concern coachability and work ethic.
don't ever give up as if you are good enough they will find you.

Well first ASTVR I don’t give a rat’s ass what you are tired of, these two men entered into a contract together to purchase this team. One of the owners allowed the other to take on the positions of president AND GM, the two positions that carry the most authority, now either the other owner didn’t want the responsibility of the day to day operation of the club, or he didn’t care. Perhaps he now regrets his decision to go into partnership with this man but that doesn’t make him (in my opinion) any less culpable. I really have a hard time believing that either one of these men have the best interest of any other players other than their sons at heart.
I do agree with you when you say that you would have to be a complete idiot not to see that Curtis Renaud is an outstanding player with a very bright future, however I’m not as confident as you, that both owners are aware of this.
And as far as checking my facts go, well I have spoken personally with Curtis, and I know exactly what the situation is as far as offers go. If you take the time to read my original post you will see that I said "solid scholarship offer" as a matter of fact I said it twice.

musicmann
a lot depends on what schools are looking for. how many scholarship dollars are available etc.
at this time of the year most schools have done their recruiting for next year or are filling holes that need filling.
the d 3 schools will be more active these days and generally are looking at the older players that can step in and play next year.
if the kid is good enough he will get something.

there are numerous kids ahead of this player in points that still dont have firm commitments from schools.
his numbers this year are pretty good but last year he had 15 pts in 47 games.
i'm sure he had no interest at all last year and now he is on some teams radar based on this years points
fortunatly the player is an 89 so he has another year to play if nothing happens this year.
if this kid keeps positive and improves he should get something.
we all hope its sooner than later and more importantly the right fit.

So let me get this straight PLAYER299 you think that I’m Curtis Renaud father? If that’s what you think, you obviously don’t know who I am, and that’s ok not everyone does. However even though I go by the name Musicmann on the forum many people know who I am. I assure you I am not Curtis’ father. If you wish to verify this fact you can ask Tony.
Now as for Curtis not being good enough to play NCAA then you either haven’t seen him play or you are a poor judge of talent. Now before you get all twisted out of shape, I really think that either you haven’t seen him play or you are just stirring the pot.
