After having a less than spectacular day at work here in London where our Flight Controls lead (and close friend) tendered his resignation, prior to his departure he informed us all that our efforts may no longer be required by the end of the month, as they may very well sh#t can the project due to slumping sales and being ridiculously over budget!
After driving back to the hotel this evening I decided not to isolate and attended a local AA meeting where I knew my sponsor would be present. We chatted a while and I shared with him the potential termination of our contract as early as the end of February. I really needed to get out of my own head and tonights sharing really seemed to hit the spot ...... that was until I returned to the hotel and decided to go for a hot tub before bed.
Now this is where it gets good .....
I chatted with a fella who had his two young boys in the pool (Dillon and Jessie) the eldest (Jessie) had just been cleared at Victoria hospital just down the road from our hotel with his Leukemia (sp?) treatment which has been ongoing for two years! The father (Fred is his name) then informed me that once being cleared today by the medical staff, Jessie could now take that all inclusive Disney Vacation which has been provided by none other than ........ Sunshine Dreams For Kids, based here in London and the charity which we have skated for throughout the past decade!
The family had travelled to London from Sarnia to get the all clear prior to departing for Florida this weekend!
I nearly crapped myself when Fred shared his families time/financially consuming journey throughout the past two years and their hopes for the future which begins this weekend when they are finally able to go on this family trip together! I've still got a lump in my throat after having just returned to my room lass than half an hour ago!
We never know just how widespread our actions travel and just how they can impact other peoples lives! Sleep well tonight everyone, I know that I will, and don't forget to give your kids a hug!

One other thing Wayne, the father Fred shook my hand thanked US for the work that we're doing and pledged that one day he too would "Pay It Forward" (I've gotta watch that movie again .... soon). I suggested to him that for now he has enough on his plate to concern himself with and that he should just focus on having a fantastic vacation with his family! What an amazing journey this thing called life is!
Oh by the way Wayne, I didn't edit your comment, I just made an error by clicking reply to the wrong reply! lol

Do you have to question EVERY 'G' damn post that's submitted? Can't you see for a minute that I was pre-empting this heart warming story by humbling myself about being caught up in the "poor me's" only to be pulled out of it by circumstances far more important than my selfish grovelling?
Can't you even see the significance of getting out of my own head space when I had already stated in my initial post that: "I really needed to get out of my own head" or do you ALWAYS have to critique every stinking submission Wedog?
Please, get off your high horse for a weekend and just enjoy this thing called ...... LIFE instead of continuously searching for an angle on every bloody issue would ya?
In conclusion, YES the first part of the story was as necessary to establish the balance of last nights EXPERIENCE! Try it 'Dog, you may enjoy it ..... EXPERIENCING LIFE that is! Instead of living every damn minute through these stupid forums and the rinks!
As a friend, may I suggest to you NOT to enter one rink for a weekend, nor participate or even visit for that matter one stinking forum for the ENTIRE weekend! Go see if there is something, anything that fuels your passions OTHER than these boards!
Have a good one!

Thanks "GDAWGGG", I think you're right and I will take your advice and .... "Leave him be, not worth your energy" ... far too much effort spent on someone who continues to repeat his behavior!
As I've been taught in program "GDAWGGG" ...... "To spend too much time on any one situation is to deny some other person an opportunity to live and be happy" ... which plays right into what you are saying!
