I was at the game last night, in St. Mikes..
Good crowd, St.Mikes had their football team there and drummers...

Smith took 2 hits from behinds within a matter of seconds from Perma, he finished his shift, but then left the game and did not return.

Any update? would be great.

this would be a huge blow to the TJC.

Can't believe aurora got rid of him..

Seems to be the way alot of teams are playing. Newmarkets Jamie Wise's elbow to Joey Diamonds head has him out of service.

last time i checked wingfan isn't hockey about taking players out of the game? whether thats a hard hit knocking them off the puck or a bone crushing centre ice hit. its part of the game. lets also be realistic here, cody smith is no wilting flower, a physical player himself he gives it and gets it back. he's not a speedy small skater he's a power forward and those guys, regardless, get banged up. if perna had crushed rodruigues in to a pulp then you might have a case, but in this case, your perpetual "hate" of the buzzers is flaring up.

One thing I haven't read anywhere is the fact St. Mikes was missing two of their key forwards down the regular season stretch and all of the playoff games. Eric Rubino and Dan Ciampini were key cogs in the St. Mikes offense and their absence caused a lot of line juggling.

Yes, injuries are part of the game...congratulations to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.

..and next for the Junior Canadiens the Waxers..I really don't see a favourite here..perhaps whatever goalie gets hot will determine it. It will be no cakewalk for the Dukes either as the Hurricanes are a solid group who capitalize on the other teams mistakes and know how to operate a powerplay.

New Update

March 9 2009, 12:19 PM

2 Minutes into the game against Wellington, Smith has Pratt lined up and either loses an edge, steps on the goalie stick or hits a rut, but ends up going head first into the boards. Players from the canadiens bench, immediately hop the boards to get the doctor over. He didn't move for several minutes. Talking to him during and after the game, he kept signaling he was fine, but was not allowed back on the ice.

If smith doesn't return, and from what i saw, he is really lucky to be alive and not paralyzed, but the Canadiens could be in some trouble without their leading scorer at the time, and most physical player as well.

hope you make it back Cody, the team needs you!

Saw him at the last home game in the stands, talked with a few parents. Doesn't look good for his return.

Tough Pill to Swallow Cody.
After last year, missing the whole season with knee surgery and be sent home by the London knights on trade deadline, and come back early to play with aurora and now to play the whole year and miss the finals is one tough ride.
Good Luck in your Future!
