Brad Gehl's goal late in the third put the Stars into an overtime situation against the Voyageurs in Peterborough. It came a mere seven seconds after Craig Laliberte's second playoff goal had given Kingston a 3-2 lead.
The first period was scoreless. Ryan Herlihey opened the scoring early in the second for the Stars but that was wiped out by Blind River native Jacob Chiblow's first of the playoffs and then the Vees took the lead with only three seconds left courtesy of Mike Farrell.
Henderson Robinson got Peterborough on even terms at two each in the middle of the third.
It did not take long to settle things in the extra time as Matt McCann scored from Robinson and Herlihey at one minute and twenty three seconds. Final 4-3 Stars.

This one had all the trappings of a great Ruddock playoff finale series.
If the Peterborough Stars did not know, at the start of this series, that they could play with the Vees, they know now.
I said, before the game started, that this series would go back to Kingston tied at a game apiece Thursday. It was to the chagrin of some Kingston fans for sure, not to mention my own dismay.
Like I said, the Stars are going to take the Vees to places they have not been this year in this series.
That can either be a death knell for the Vees or a challenge the Vees can decide to take up.
Winning anything worthwhile is never easy and this series will be no different.
The two teams are very close and pretty well matched in spite of what some Kingston people might want to believe. That Gregg Rosen's considerable investment in this team may not be enough to win a championship.
What it is going to take is what it always takes to win championships. It's often goaltending and it has to be better than just steady. Steady only cuts it when one team is better than the other man to man. That is not the case here.
You have to have goaltending that can win games by themselves to get championships.
Both Fryia and Sirman are capable but they have to believe they can and will do it. So much of goaltending is mental.
It's a ton of pressure on these two youngsters but that is the nature of goaltending.
Stay tuned.

If Peterborough wins this round, it will be the first time since 1984-85 that the Jr.A/B. program in Peterborough will advance this far in the OHA playdowns.
I believe that year they lost to Henry Carr Crusaders in the old Metro Jr.B. Semis.
