What a disaster! What's next the Leafs will sign Avery at the end of the year? .... NOTHING (absolutely nothing) would surprise me anymore Triple 'R'!
So the Buffalo Bills now have TWO premier receivers, one entering his prime (Lee Evans) the other, although still a respected threat (Terrell Owens) could catipult the Bills offensive attack to a level not seen before while taking some of the double coverage away from Evans!
The ONLY problem is, who the hell is going to get either of these premier receivers the ball? We already know that the JP Losman experiment is over! Much like the Rob Johnson saga of a decade or so ago, JP turned out to be a dud! Cannon of an arm, but it's pretty difficult to uncork a rocket when you're on your ass all of the time!
Truth is Losman has NO pocket presense whatsoever! No sense of when things are beginning to break down, and no sense of urgency!
Fast forward to Trent Edwards. While he does have far more awareness than JP ever had, and can even scramble when he feels the pressure, the jury is still out on his arm! Can he throw the deep ball? If Trent Edwards isn't afforded the luxury of stretching the defense with a few deep throws, then look for another frustrating year (starting with the receivers) in Orchard Park, New York!
It won't take Owens more than a couple of weeks to begin airing his grievences publicly if Edwards can't find him down the sidelines. This to me is simply throwing money, a bandaid solution, at a much deeply rooted problem!
As in hockey where a team MUST have supreme goaltending to challenge, in football the comparable commitment MUST be made to the quaterback, a position that the Bills have addressed with a half spirited effort throughout the past decade!
