The Blades gave their fans a nice Easter present with a win in game five of the series against the Voyageurs. Jeremy Welsh got the first two goals of the game one in each of the first and second periods to give him 17 for the playoffs. Craig Laliberte got the Vees on the scoresheet just past the six minute mark of the second but the home team got their two-goal lead back from a Lindsay Sparks marker and it was Blades 3-1 after two complete. Just over a minute into the final frame Dustin Alcock made it 4-1 Oakville. It was their second powerplay goal of the contest. They would add a third man-advantage marker courtsey of Luke Moodie before the middle of the period and all of a Sunday it's 5-1 for the home side. Hamilton's own Kevin Christmas would get a second for the Vees also on the powerplay. Kingston lost Mike Farrell and Adam McAllister to fighting majors in the third. The respective combatants for the Blades were Dan Hunt and Adam Simms- not a bad tradeoff for the home team! Mitch Latchford and Taylor Farris hooked up in the game's dying seconds. Final 5-2. A better crowd with just over 500 fans on hand.
A quick look at the penalty minutes in each game so far..
Game 1- Ferguson/Wilson.. a mere 16 minutes.
Game 2- Brown/Sankey.. a paltry 20 minutes.
Game 3- Kostyk/Purnell..a bare 16 minutes
Game 4- McQuigge/Marley..36 minutes, including a 10 min. misc.
now Game 5- Munroe and Bain..90 minutes..coincidence?

It may have something to do with the Joshua's Creek Arena, worst Arena that I have ever seen to watch a game. The sight lines and seat levels are terrible.
The best place to view the game is standing behind the end zones at ice level, and a lot of people can't take standing for that long a period.
