Congratulations to the Vees on a six game series win over the Blades and also to Oakville for two thrilling seven game series and a strong effort against Kingston.

Brock Higgs took the playoff scoring championship with 39 points. He got two assists in the final game. Jarrett Burton was the hero of game six with a hat trick, more of a playmaker than a scorer Burton had only three goals coming into the game. Mike Farrell and Mitch Latchford, with the game winner, both involved in controversial confrontations in game five, each tallied once for the Vees in their 5-2 victory. Braden Birch scored shorthanded for the Blades and Dustin Alcock had the other. The storyline was the four goals the home team scored in the first eight minutes of the contest. Shawn Sirman ended the playoffs with a 2.41 GAA and a save percentage of .932.

Jeremy Welsh led all Oakville players in playoff point scoring with seventeen goals and assists for 34 points.

Now the Voyageurs advance to the Dudley Hewitt Cup in Schreiber against a team I watched for many years, the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL, plus the host Schreiber Diesels and the Fort William North Stars from the SIJHL. The games start on the 21st.
