You may very well see two Central Div. Teams jump and go back to the Classic Conference. So much for the new Elite League that the one owner was promoting to be the next best thing since sliced bread. Watch for it, you maybe surprised at what 2 teams they are. One team really missed it's great rival and the other just had no direction and was losing fans left right and center. The move back to the classic for this team is a way of trying to kiss and make up with the fans that didn't go for the idea and missed the old days. Actually when this team played other teams close by the crowds were usually made of the visiting teams. It's a way getting some money back and making it look like it was the Fans idea, also it may have to do with whom this team has hired as Head Coach for the up coming season. Should be an interesting couple of days. The GM cannot recruit younger players because he does not know any so it's easier to just buy older players. There were so many reasons why they could not get the younger players there.

With the loss of rivalries, loss of revenue and the new questionable Central Conference rules regarding player ages etc, this news, if correct, is not surprising.

I think I have a pretty good idea of what teams you speak of, however it is too early to discuss or hazard a guess.

It would appear that the "chink" in the armour is starting to become a breach, and the "Exodus" may be under way.

hahaha wishful thinking. eh smc57, you want to bet your stagecoach terminal vs. my oil royalties in alberta that this is a pot-stirring know-nothing, wishful thinking beatnick?

it was actually with a little chuckle yesterday i read your comment about your historic home. my family may have stayed there had they been further north on their march in settling the west back in the 1800's. but now that i think about it they were already mid-continent by the time your house was built. and BOY am I glad my family kept going to alberta, settling there and getting lots of land. funny thing under that ground there. im just the eastern reincarnation of the family. you and I...a little bit of east egg/west egg sort of thing. if you dont get the east egg/west egg reference..try google.

PM, now I know who you are, you are "The Great Gatsby" reincarnated.

Since you obviously like history, about 3 blocks from the "Soules Inn" is located "The Heinztman House" and "Cricklewood" two more well known Historical Landmarks of the Thornhill area. Look them up on google, they are very interesting.

Also look up John Thorne, Thornhill was named after him, he was quite a guy, committed suicide on the present site of our 1st tee at Thornhill Golf Club, back around 1845.

"Tea" in an Italian's house? are you kidding me?

How about some "Grappa" that will put hair on your chest, that is if you want hair on your chest.

From what I see in today's hockey dressing rooms, the fad is to be clean shaven, but we won't go there.

As I said I have an idea, we will see shortly, since the schedules have to be made up.

i don't think any teams in the "central" division want to be seen as being part of a developmental league to the other teams. it gives a stigma of being 2nd rate. i would guess one possible team to jump ship could be Wellington and if they go other new "central" but old east division rivals may decide to follow to maintain rivalries. i think peterborough, bowmanville and lindsay wanted to play with old rivals cobourg and wellington and if one leaves they all follow.

No way St Mikes or Wellington would move out of the Central for the simple reason it would be a complete admission of defeat by McCarron and Abrams, two of the main founders and spokesmen of the Central. A switch at this point would not only make them look a little ridiculous but their credibility would be "scarred" for life.

The two that I have in mind have not been mentioned yet.

It;s funny how a certain owner was running around this time last year telling everyone the Elite League is coming The Elite League is coming, we will be Tier one and Rival the OHL and now wants back badly, and now with Saturday's meeting he breathing a collective sigh of relief,

The two teams that wanted back from central Hamilton and New Market

The elite league is coming. They just realized they are not in it. Why do two of the original Central teams now want out? Hopefully they do go and then Wellington, Lindsay and Peterborough should join them. That would produce a pretty solid group of 20 teams.

One can only hope!!!!

All this is similar to is shuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic. Comes down to one thing - too many teams for the amount of quality Jr.A. kids available.

OJHL is now equivalent of what Midget AAA was about 15-20 years ago.

Until there is contraction of junior teams in this province, this shuffling only puts lipstick on a pig.

According to the local hockey people in Stouffville. 3 teams are going back Newmarket, Hamilton and Wellington. Stouffville could be the fourth. Its also possible that Aurora and Huntsville are entertaining going into the Central. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stouffville, Newmarket, Aurora and Huntsville come together and decide to compete together in one or the other.

I can see Newmarket, Hamilton and Stouffville moving to the Classic/Ontario Conference, that makes sense.

Wellington moving out of the Central? NEVER, that would be a total admission of "FAILURE" and there is no way that MA and the Dukes will admit to that.

Aurora & Huntsville moving? no way they will stay in the Classic/Ontario Conference especially if Newmarket and Stouffville join them.

grasp at straws much? please please come back our love, newmarket. without you who do we hate? lol. smc57 you seem to forget that newmarket is one of the key founders and spokespeople for the central, hamiltons ownership wants nothing to do with the old dogs and stouffville's existing and new partial stake ownerships opinion of the classic peeps is haha not flattering.

keep up the boo-hooing smc...you keep reminding everyone in the central group why being a part of the other group is not where they want to be.

Hey PM, your posts and comments are starting to sound like those of a grade 9 freshman.

I case you didn't notice, I did not start this thread. I am merely adding my comments as to what teams I would think would move IF and that's a big IF there was some movement.

As far as Newmarket is concerned there is definitely something going on there with the ownership, I have no idea what but if the Canes did move to the Classic/Ontario division it would be great for the Tigers and the Canes at the gate, if they don't so be it the Tigers will survive and so will the Canes. I'm a little surprised at Newmarket since I thought they were an RBC minded organization and must realize that they can kiss any RBC ambitions goodbye if they remain in the Central. As far as the rest, the Tigers and me really don't give a "big fat rat's ass" if they move or not, fifteen RBC minded teams in one division is great. Finally the Classic/Ontario conference has achieved what everybody has wanted for years, LESS TEAMS.

"Ontario Conference - Moving Forward" great comment by the PRESENT OJHL CHAMPION VEES management, take a look PM and see what a real Junior "A" team thinks about the Classic/Ontario Conference.

By the way, I am still waiting for the "BIG SHOE" to drop, any idea of when that might happen? I would say at this point the only "BIG SHOE" that has dropped has been in the original Central owner's laps in the form of 13 extra teams to contend with. I guess "PARITY" will disappear as one of the Central's goals next season.

SMC do you ever get off this forum. Do you not have anything else to do in your life.

I not sure which division is going to be the best for Junior A hockey but reading your constant negative comments make me side more with the Central. Your like the old grumpy guy that has worked with a company for years and did everything manually and all of a sudden the company decides to implement technology. What would you typically get from that old grumpy guy but constant negativity and push back. Not interested in updating themselves, "I can still do my job manually". Well guess what ends up happening to the old grumpy guy?........

The change has happened, we have read on here at nausea your responses to everything that anyone has to say but for some reason you feel you need to reply to everything. Just let it be , hey why not take a walk over to MacDonalds or Starbucks and get yourself a free coffee and think about something else in your life that may matter. WE ALL KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS ISSUE ALREADY!!!

In the end everything will rectify itself and the league will eventually become one again and you will have your positives and you will have your negatives but life will still go on.

Have a great day! happy.gif

"builtstrong"

You obviously don't know me or know anything about me, if you did you wouldn't have mentioned the "Grumpy Old Man" working for a company for years analogy. I have never worked for any company outside of my own and the reason that I have a lot of time to devote to other things is that's what comes with "financial success" during your life. As Smith Barney says "I've earned it". So you can lay off the "Grumpy Old Man" theme, it doesn't apply to me.

Also if you notice, most of my comments are in direct rebuttal to my friend "PM87". Maybe you should use your analogy on that "Grumpy Young Man" I'm sure he would get a kick out of it as much as I did.

Have a nice day at whatever you are doing.

It's not "whining" Wex, there my opinions, no different than the people that are against the "Classic/Ontario" Conference opinions.

And you know in the back of your mind that the word "whining" is the sole property of the Wellington Dukes.

As a matter of fact, I understand in the new edition of the Concise Oxford Dictionary, when you look up the word "whiner & whining" there will be a picture of MA and the Dukes. LOL

Well - the Tigers rookie Camp is this week-end. Do I win?

Rumours that were called in to me today at work:

1) The team has been sold (5th time since March)
2) 2 new Stouffville owners have 16 year old sons that play hockey. (Shocking)
3) Newmarket leaving Central.
4) Stouffville leaving Central.
5) St. Mikes leaving Central.

There is never a dull day. Some of the above may be true - we'll find out.
