Im certainly excited to be a member of the Knights. What theyve shown me in recent months is they are committed to taking this organization to the top with their staff hirings and team signings. That starts at the top with owner David Arsenault.

Ive known Barry Rice for years now and hes a very good hockey man and we share a philosophy based around speed and skill. Mark Edwards is a person Ive got to know over the years, hes very dedicated and hard working. I see him out scouting on a nightly basis. Its a work ethic like that that pays dividends in the end. Ive corresponded with Phil David during his time in the GTHL Midget loop and have been impressed with his ability to develop players. Im looking to meeting everyone else connected with the team.

This will likely be a young team in year one of this plan but a fast and skilled group. I like the players theyve brought in recently. The fact the team has brought in players from outside the local area tells me a lot. Its a huge asset in this league that if you see a player you really like and hed be a billet that you may still have the opportunity to recruit him.

I like a challenge, I love winning and I enjoy working with a good group of a guys.

We've heard this all before. One year and he'll move along. Very naive.

In speaking with General Manager Barry Rice regarding this comment, Rice replied " I would say a year with Kevin would accomplish more than five years with others"

That should say enough!!!!

Coming off such a low base that might be possible. But wouldn't it be better to find someone who has stuck some where and actually accomplished something substantial?

kev while knowledgeable and a forum participant has shown time and again he has no staying power with any team. how many organizations has he been with in the last 6 years?

and with a 12-81-5 Villanova franchise record, there is little room to be worse and win 1 more game in a season to make it seven and you have a substantial improvement.

what will happen to kev when a missive comes down from up high in villanova like it did last year when suddenly the team stopped doing webcasts because the 'players didnt deserve it'

"A Bad Day in Muskoka is better than any day in the city"

MM

Very interesting comments

Many people move around in all levels of hockey. Take it a year at a time.

Villanovas record - very bad - but not the worst ever. Look up the Huntsville, Georgetown, Port Hope and other when they started out. They have all become successful - takes time.

Experienced people like Kevin Lachance, Barry Rice, etc - moving in the right direction. Maybe not 20 wins, but more than 6 thats for sure! That is improvement. Is it not ok for the Knights to get better - isnt that what its all about?

Regarding the Knights have their webcasts taken off due to poor play - did you watch any games or are you just a complainer? To really care, you must either be a disgruntled parent, or liked to watch terrible hockey where the kids brought no effort at all - maybe it was one of your kids?

You seemed worried about negative comments. I look at the comments as balanced. As my previous contributor MM has mentioned Kevin is knowledgeable and a long time forum participant. An overall positive contributor answering questions and providing comments. This does not translate into a succesful, team building GM. To be fair Kev is a very nice individual who has spent a considerable amount of time learning about the OJHL. I believe he started as a fan back in the Milton Merchant haydays in the late '90's. The comments about his staying power are undeniable. He has moved and moved often and has never built a succesful team, let alone organization, ever. There always appears to be a problem either not anticipated or beyond his control and then it's time to move on. Maybe he doesn't do his homework.

Hey, I'm not a rejected candidate but I have been around this league almost 20 years and I know what brings success. Teams like Wellington, Aurora, St. Mike's, the old Newmarket, Milton and Bramalea franchises are all succesful because they had great ownership/leadership at the top and filled their organizations with winners. Then they stayed together and steered the course for a long time.

I'm sorry umich, you don't take it a year at a time and be succesful. Kev has shown that. Let's not get all fuzzy that Villanova has a saviour. Nice guy, yes. Leader, we'll see.

Lachance is not the General Manager for the Knights - that is Barry Rice. Kevin is the director of recruiting and works with rice and the rest of the management to build a team, similar in the way the teams you mentioned have.

I agree that he has moved around in the past, but those were General Manager psoitions, he is not serving that role right now. Based on the Knights record over the past 2 seasons, people such as he and Rice can only help improve a bad franchise.

Lets Get the facts straight

Kevin has not been a GM in this league. He should have been by now. This guy has more knowledge about players, league rules, etc. than just about anyone in the league.

It was mentioned that he has never won. I am sure all of the pundits will heckle my next comment, however, he and Johnny Mac took the Redwings to the West title. In one year in Burlington the same two guys won more games than anyone else prior and finally had some success in the playoffs. That was in one year. His departure in Burlington was not his doing.

This guy is great for the league, unlike many of the others that hang around. Any team that has Kevin working for them will immediately gain credibility in terms of recruiting, etc.
