Do you all think with the spit in Leagues this year, that an Allstar game would make more sence between both Leagues with the winner of the Allstar game getting Home ice advantage who goes on to the Dudley, something like the MBL does each year something to play for with meaning!

i love this idea. my boy wont be making the all-star team (im a realistic man) but i would definitely like to watch this game with something to play for.

i think it would create a lot of interest and be a huge success.

I very much agree on this kind of Central vs Ontario Division Allstar game,it would be well worth the ticket price, maybe someone can let the OHA brass make this come to life this year!

Great idea Toros!!!

All the Stars

I am not so excited.

Typically these are promo events where the players have fun and show up with some tricks they don't use in the regular season.

Typically the players chosen are one from each team and then some coaches choices or some other equally crazy voting system or another not so crazy but equally insane method.

Finally, Giving away home Ice when the best overall team may not be in that division isn't fair to the team that works hard all year.

Also, I would caution that, unlike a baseball all-star game where players go all out anyways (because there really is no other way to play baseball), in hockey, the difference between the typical all-star game and a game with something on the line could mean a key injury, during what amounts to a fun event.

Why bother with the game? The only ones selected are usually.......the owners kids, the the gm's kid, the coaches kid, the assnnt coaches kid, the part owner kid, the sponsor kid, the US kid(whose dad paid big bucks to play up here because he couldn't make it down there) the coaches girlfriends kid, the coaches mistresses kid etc etc etc etc............why bother?

I wasn't joking. I was being serious about my statement. How cynical one can become in a hockeyworld gone mad and so corrupted.

All-Star game - vets, rookies

'Ripped': perhaps putting more emphasis and importance on the game might inspire teams to select their candidates more carefully, rather than on potential 'familial or political bias' as you suggest.

Personally I also agree it's a good idea and gives fans the chance to see some top talent from both leagues next year, since inter-league games won't occur until the end of playoffs.

The same format can be utlized for the Rookie All-Star game: Central vs. OJAHL. I think people would also come out to see the 'up and comers' in both leagues battle each other.
Perhaps the two games can be played in a back-to-back/doubleheader format to allow greatest exposure and provide greatest 'bang for the buck' in today's economy.

PopShoppe, this would create a fantastic Allstar game and yes you would see the best players & goaltenders from the Ontario & Central, maybe someone should put this to a Poll Vote on the Cage and see the outcome of interest in regards to this format by Toros1977.

Many good points but...what about the age restrictions between the two conferences? Do the ages limitations factor into who is on the the teams? Also the comment about the rookie all-star game. Is this game not for undrafted players only? If so, it does limit the actual rookie talent.
