Kingston downed Milton 5-2 at home. Brock Higgs started out where he left off last season with a goal and an assist but Tyler Melancon was the star for the Vees with a goal and three helpers.
The Dukes squeaked by the Fury in Whitby 2-1 with both goals coming off the stick of Sean Rudy. Dylan O'Neil spoiled Jordan Ruby's shutout bid in the last minute of the third.
The Hurricanes took care of Toronto at home 7-3 in a feisty affair. Veteran Chad Sumsion led Newmarket with two goals and an assist. Sumsion scored the first two goals of the game and Justin Hanley netted the game winner.

Minor correction Ron, it's JOEL Hanley not Justin haha.
As for the game, Newmarket looked pretty good although a tad undersized compared to a few of the Toronto giants (Hudes, McDonough and #97 who's name escapes me at the moment) but in the end their speed and tenacity helped them pull away with the two points. Horrible officiating from Marley and Black - missed calls and make ups everywhere. Toronto seemed to start to come unglued after the Canes began turning it on and filling the net, leading to a string of untimely penalties.
All in all a good start to the season for Newmarket who sit at 2-0 and take on Peterborough this Saturday and Streetsville this Sunday before welcoming Hamilton Thursday night at home. If the games from last year against the Wings are any indication of what to expect from them this season then the two teams may have just founded the first real rivalry in the CCHL!
