How can you get there?

It's easy.

Take the Northwest Passage then dip south into Hudson's Bay
Bear slightly west until you hit York Factory the famous pickup spot for Hudson's Bay Fur Traders. Continue south on the Hayes River all the way to Norway House on the north shore of Lake Winnipeg. Many a traveler has lost more that a few sheckles in the "houses" at Oxford along the route, so beware. In Lake Winnipeg you best go west past Port Bourbon and take the Mossy Portage. It's easy rowing south down Lake Winnipegosis. Your final portage at Meadow will likely deplete your ration of pemmicant (buffalo meat fat and blueberries)but then you're just a skip over to Dauphin.

I recommend you begin the trip now. Before the Ice sets in and you get locked in and eaten by your fellow travelers.

for 40 bucks you can buy Quest for the Bay to watch the above experience taken on by a bunch of eager souls and fly to Winnipeg then take the Greyhound direct....which is just as painful.

i think a few of us have dropped more than a few sheckles at the "houses", in my case the 'casa of lancaster' to be exact.

If anyone is planning to come, please let me know, as I will be attending some of the Cup games. Not much fun to do out here since being banished to Winterpeg. (Except that it's been 28 degrees every day for the last three weeks here...)

Sometimes the joke is right in front of us. Besides I really liked the "Quest" Series. "Pioneer Quest: A Year In The Real West" "Quest For The Bay", and "Klondike: The Quest For Gold". Canadian made productions with beautiful Canadian vistas and the setting usually put the "reality" in reality TV.
