2009 / 2010 GMHL College Showcase Classic Schedule announced!
Elliot Lake Bobcats to host 10 of 12 GMHL teams in showcase tournament!
Okay folks, help me out here. The GMHL (The Greatest That is Marshall League), otherwise known as the OUTLAW league, is holding a showcase for scouts in northern Ontario. How many scouts out there are planning on attending?! Last year, the showcase was held in Thornhill at the Thornhill Community Centre arena and ZERO scouts showed up. Do the odds improve if you go north? Am I missing something here? Two of their own teams have bowed out for the very reason that they don't expect even local beavers to show up.
Is someone trying to con everybody here? Or, is someone delusional?

The GMHL has one redeeming quality - Import Players. I work for a team in the Q, and there are some decent european and American players in the GMHL. Maybe not really high-end talent, but enough there that I would invite a player or two to my camp. While a lot of players are AA calibre and lower, some of the kids from the States (mostly southern states (FL, TX, CA, AZ) have skill but no one who'll watch them down south. As for the European players, in theory they should report to camp, since they have already played in Canada.
That said, their ain't a chance in hell I would travel to Elliot Lake for this. I will check out a few games late in the season in Thornhill...

I just got word from a caller that the GMHL is charging a fee for every participating team to participate in the Showcase. With no scouts coming except a friend of a friend of a friend, where's the logic? the integrity? Oh, I got it--this is the Outlaw League run by Mr. M.
