West Division...

1. BURLINGTON COUGARS..off to a fast start..it's hard to find a weakness on this club as of now..only two losses in nine games and only one in regulation..Carey off like a hare in the scoring race..will he stay the pace?..you bet he will..well coached with good discipline.

2. TORONTO JUNIOR CANADIENS.. have big guns up from in McDonough, Amestoy, Jackson and Hudes. Defence is tough and goalkeeping more than adequate..might want to cut down on penalties but very strong when the other team is shorthanded.

3. ORANGEVILLE CRUSHERS..unbeaten at home but have struggled on the road..will go as far as Arnold, Connolly, Vassos and Gigone will take them..but will that be enough?

4. HAMILTON RED WINGS..ran into a wall in their first two games against the Cougars back-to-back but have regained their composure since then..no big line but tons of effort..Sinclair strong in the net..captaincy seems to suit Hyman..must be conscious of too many penalties though special teams are much improved.

5. NEWMARKET HURRICANES..Off to a very fast start and still have a good record at 6-2..have only played two games at home so should move up the standings as schedule evens out..Sumsion will do damage but like Hamilton scoring is by committee. Sarjeant a key in the net.

6. STREETSVILLE DERBYS..much improved point-wise over last season but still look pretty fragile..can score goals but can they keep them out..Baker and Grant looked to for leadership.

7. NORTH YORK RANGERS..batting .500 at the moment but have played most of their games at home..no real standouts but have got some results so far..Demelo has a good GAA..see how they do with more games on the road.

8. DIXIE BEEHIVES..look to Jason Demetrius to keep putting the puck in the net but he needs some more help..17 year olds Loparco and Holt off to fast starts..might be a long season in the heart of Dixie.

9. ST. MICHAEL'S BUZZERS..what are they doing down here you might ask..only one win in five home games tells a story..Lessio and Ciampini on their own?..a struggle behind the blueline both on defence and in the net..expect them to get bett3r though.

10. SEGUIN BRUINS..off to a decent start but running rough of late..might expect more than one goal from Marinakos in nine games..little offensive contribution from the blueliners. Green started out strong in the net but GAA has ballooned.

11. UPPER CANADA COLLEGE..looks like another season of looking up from the bottom though they are not being blown out..reaching the playoffs looks difficult right now. O'Connor has faced lots of shots and saved lots too.

I now wait for your similar synopsis for the CCHL's East and the OPJHL.

It is always interesting to read another's perpective, Ron.
