Why do they bother taking down these stats 9 of 10 times at each game they are incorrect, tonight they were asking who was on the ice and when no one could answer they just told them put who ever you want. Other times they have been asking the team officials and they most of the time don't care nor have they taken the info down and just tell the operator to put whatever they want as being on the ice. At the end of the day it is very misleading and frustrating for players to see their numbers especially as minuses when in fact it is incorrect

Somewhere I read that these leagues (OP & CC) don't pay much attention to +/- stats. With that in mind and with the problems collecting them accurately hockeytown is right in asking, "Why do they bother taking down these stats?"
His post also reads in part, " tonight they were asking who was on the ice and when no one could answer they just told them put who ever you want"
Does "they" first mean a person in the timekeepers box who asks another "they" also in timekeepers box?
The questions asked and answers given are proof that the stats are suspect.
So....At the end of the day it is very misleading and frustrating for players to see their numbers ....so why do it?

Gentlemen, the current +/- stats on PS as we know are not accurate and that is a joke. Shame on the teams for not having someone who can be responsible for this seemingly simple task. I coach a Bantam AAA team and we consider +/- the most important stat we keep. I don't get it, PS should just get rid of the numbers as they are misleading.

It's an absolutely joke, these plus-minus stats. Which is a shame because when done and kept properly, it's a very important and telling stat. But look at all those losing teams with horrible records and large goals-against numbers, yet few players are in the minus? Just not possible.

personally i think its a GREAT idea. it exposes the teams who dont take stats seriously and are the ones prone to fudging goals and assists. since they have to work to get those stats right it shows which organizations are lazy and cant keep up with the rigours of the cchl. even going back the last few years how lazy has the old league been when it came to goals and especially ASSISTS accuracy. players with 1 goal and 80 assists in a season..laughable. at least the cchl is trying to improve the game.
