Nearly At 5,000,000 Hits!

As we near the middle of November, I had done some quick numbers over the summer as to when approximately we would surpass the 5 millionth hit here "In The Cage". I'd anticipated that it would be around Christmas time, but as you can all see we're within 25,000 hits of that plateau currently sitting at 4,977,170 and based on our current rate of participation, we should be surpassing that plateau by this weekend!

Well done everyone, and despite my very limited participation (it's a very long story) I commend you all for keeping this thing going, especially Ron! In short, I've been pursuing contract Aerospace engineering work since the owner of Diamond Aircraft in London sh*t canned the design of the D-Jet with less than a year to go until certification!

This all occured back in April, and since then I've had no less than FOUR tentative start dates at Bombardier in Montreal, none of which have materialized due to scheduling adjustments. There were also rumblings about Diamond resurrecting the D-Jet design back in London, but to date that hasn't materialized either!

We now hang our hopes on the fairly immediate commencement of "NGC" (Next Generation Canadarm) at MDA (formerly Spar Aerospace in Brampton) as the original Canadarm (SRMS - Shuttle Remote Manipulator System) will be put out of service in 2010 when the Space Shuttle is retired!

So thankyou all for maintaining the integrity of this forum while my mind/passions have been elsewhere!

Tony, I don't think Mario will end up in Aurora, the Tigers just announced that Paul Hampton is now the Cat's Head Coach officially.

Congratulations Tony on the milestone 5,000,000 hits and counting ! Thank You for the support and providing the avenue for a lot of readers and contributors an avenue to vent their frustrations about this league ! I very rarely contribute however I am an avid reader and appreciate the banter and bitching that goes on here on the forum ! I sincerely believe that should you ever consider becoming an executive , director , owner you would get a very large support from the readers and contributors , perhaps less from the present executive or owners as they would be afraid to make the changes that we all believe has to come about to make this league the leader that it once was !
Hope everything is going well with the work situation and that we will get to here and see you more often at the arenas

Thanks Again for being there !

You're all very welcome! My contributions and efforts have been minimal at
best compared to many of yours as of late! Truth is I'm STILL pursuing
contract design work and with so many aerospace contracts dependent on
government funding ...... well need I say more? lol

I don't know where or when all of this will end but after 29 years as a
Mechanical Designer in the Aerospace industry, the last 17 of which I have
been an independent contractor, there has NEVER been a drought like this
before!

If something doesn't break soon it may very well mean that we have to sell
our home. As a contract employee although I am required to pay both CPP and
EI premiums, I am not eligible for benefits. As such our savings, RRSP's
and line of credit have all taken a beating since leaving London in April
eight months ago! I don't care how well I could have possibly saved and
prepared for such a situation there's no way in hell I would have
anticipated this to carry on this long! Even when I was drinking over a
decade ago, the longest duration without work was eight weeks!

We'll just have to wait and see what happens I suppose. If anyone out there
who reads this knows of anyone requiring a Senior Mechanical Designer with
extensive machine shop background, 25 years of AutoCAD (versions 1.12 in
1984 through to AutoCAD 2006), six years of Catia V5 release 10 through 18
parametric modelling, 2 years of SolidWorks 3D modelling, 1 year of
ProEngineer Wildfire release 2, Unigraphics NX - 1 year, ProCADAM - 2 years
and 29 years of drafting/design please contact me directly at
thayward13@cogeco.ca .

I know that this isn't a personal ads website but I'm at wits end after
such a long duration without ANY work whatsoever. It seems so long ago that
we were finalizing the detail design of the D-Jet in London. If anyone out
there knows of anyone requiring these skill sets please contact me asap.

The one saving grace to maintain what degree of sanity that I have left
(lol) is that after consulting with my wife as well as one of my best
friends, we ARE going to go ahead with plans to organize the 13th Annual
Sunshine Dreams For Kids, Skate In The Park At Dark to be held at Bramptons
Gage Park in February.

So far as pursuing a position as an executive/director hibou22, I thankyou
for the high regards but in all honesty I think that the ONLY way that I
could ever consider such an assignment would be if I had the financial
resources (WHICH I DON'T, lol) to purchase a team, as "most" organizations
priorities wouldn't fall in line with my own!

There are a few (i.e. Oakville, Georgetown, etc) but their executives are
extremely capable and don't require the services of someone as myself. If
there are teams requiring assistance with their team, I've been involved in
this magnificent game for forty plus years, have coached for 25 years
(although not with todays philosophies, lol), have in the past obtained my
level four of coaching and level three of refereeing, please contact me at
the e-mail address above.

Please note that I am in NO way compromising my integrity ..... NEVER! A
team would have to have in place the values associated with the likes of
the ownership either here in Georgetown (Mr. Ted Nishi) or those of the
Oakville Blades (Mr. Gary Tune).

Thanks again for the words of support fellas and please keep up the
fantastic contributions (Ron) as you have for years in our pursuit of
ANOTHER 5 million hits in another 6 1/2 years!
