One thing I'd like to hear from anyone who was at the game - in a nine-goal game that Newmarket lost, how did Dalton Jay (NMKT, no points) earn the game's MVP award? |

To answer your question, I've noticed it almost always goes to a home player regardless of the outcome of the game.
No idea who is responsible for picking the stars either.
Tough loss for the Canes tonight though who looked extremely disinterested in the early going and just didn't get the goaltending they've become used to from Sarjeant between the pipes when things mattered most, although the entire team were "passengers" here. Newmarket couldn't find their legs and by the time they did and really started to press on the Muskies it was too little, too late.
All things considered however, 17-3 and nationally ranked still leaves things looking promising around the Complex! Go Canes Go! |

I see the Muskies have picked up Brendan Muise for nothing. Great aquisition! He has the talent that if he was in the league from the start of the season he would probably be the leading scorer of the league.
I was looking for him in the past & rather than playing Tier II I found him playing High School, along with a number of other highly talented kids. The fact so many of these stars decided to pass over Tier II for high school was something that should have set alarms bells off in the Tier II offices, but no, lots of 16 year old kids with relationships & 17 year olds to fill the rosters.
So long as Muise keeps his emotions in check he will be one of the highest Pts Per Game players for the remainder of the season. |

He was playing in Fort Frances of the SIJHL earlier this year but I would imagine being a 19 hour drive from his hometown of Oakville may have been a bit of a strain. He still has one more year of Junior after this one as well. |

Yes I thought Fort Frances was a bit of a bizarre place to be playing. I know some of the kids gave up on the Tier II scene & just played High School. He played school hockey in Milton last year, so you would think some of the Halton based teams might have caught a game or two & tried to recruit him. But Fort Frances, wow. |

Musie already has a goal and an assist as the Muskies lead 3-0 in the Dukedome in 2nd period. |
