Despite a slow start the Wings ended up ahead 2-1 at the end of the first on goals by Christian Powers and Josh Wiley late in the period.
Burlington scored both goals in the second and the clubs exchanged markers in the third with Matt Carey scoring for the Red Wings.
Hamilton had Powers with Andrew Radjenovic and rookie Cam Jude as the first line with Carey, Yanni Rallis and Wiley forming the second.
Jim Roll had a strong game for the Wings on defence, he is not afraid to carry the puck as has gained a lot of confidence going into his second season. Wiley looked stronger on the puck and was alert to a rebound to bag his teams second goal.
The Wings' back-checking, very strong Tuesday night against Milton, was not as much in evidence this afternoon.
Tea and crumpets were not served.
Sorry I don't have any info on the Cougars' scorers as the PA was unintelligible.
The two sides square off for real a week on Monday at the Dave and both teams should put forth some enjoyable hockey games this season. |
