Perhaps because Frankie's character is serious and rather quiet, that's why he doesn't need that much expressions? In any case, I've always felt that Frankie is somewhat "disconnected" to the audience. He doesn't play off on the other casts as well as some of the other people. While I like his character and he has great chemistry with Bernice Liu, I think Frankie's holding back or maybe he's just not very interested in his character. -shrug-
Worst actress is probably Josephine Shum. While I liked her in the ancient version and thought she had good chemistry with Kingdom Yuen, somehow in the modern version, she became very whiny. She tends to overact, which makes her character a bit annoying. Maybe it's just her portrayal in VOH II, but she wasn't bad in VOH I.

She's the maid "Gwai Chi" in VOH I. You can find a picture of her under "Character Biographies" of VOH II site. http://www.virtuesofharmony.net >> Click on the "Modern" button to get the VOH II site. Well, I do think mostly everyone performed well in both VOH I & II, but the question was asking who was the worst, so...

It's not like his role is a dramatic role that requires theatrical acting. I think Frankie acting is sufficient in here when required by his role. He looks worried/surprised/disappointed, etc. sufficiently when he has to be. His character is serious and quiet. I think he did a good job, had great chemistry with the main character he has to have chemistry with and is charming enough to carry his role and make him likeable. Therefore, he is not the worst actor by far in VOH. He's actually pretty great, I loved him in it.
But to see a great performance of Frankie's, watch Down Memory Lane, he's really good in it.

I disagree about your assessment of Frankie's acting. It's not wooden at all. It's subtle. Just because he doesn't make facial expressions for every word he's saying doesn't mean he's wooden. He acts subtle, it's more realistic, doesn't look like he's acting. Also, his character is more serious and quiet than the others so there's no need for him to act crazy. I thought he did a good job and portrayed the appropriate emotions when he had to. When he was sad about Joey, I was sure able to tell he was sad. When he was happy, I was able to tell he was happy. So, no, I don't agree with you. I thought Frankie acted great.

he's alot more animated than most of the male characters and he can say lines that i can't imagine the other guys saying and making it really funny....he plays the most hated character but i think he does a good job, this character is better than the uncle in VOH..........

then Kitty will become their auntie, rival to Kingdom ..
then we will learn why Kitty & Kingdom hate each other so much..
the pace of VOH 2 is quite slow, but i dont mind cause it's still interesting & funny in every ep. plus, i know they're trying to make it 1000+, so i dont mind.
besides, this is the last VOH.. if it ends soon.. no more.. hahaha

i think if Frankie gets married, he'll definately move out........he just seems like the type to....and his the richest too and Bernice is even richer.

I was watching VoH II and was reminded of the unfinished story between chris and joe.
it is too sad for me, even though it is not real. the producers should bring back the cast
to finish this part of the story. what do you guys think??

Hopefully they will broadcast the entire VOH II again... Missed quite a number of episodes when it debuted... I remember I was watching VOH I then, until I saw this weird HK drama where almost everybody from VOH I seemed to be starring in it. Didn't think much of it until I realized...oh, it's a spinoff haha.

I get so sad hearing VOH ending. VOH has now finished in HK, the US, Canada, Malaysia, and now Singapore! -Sigh- At least we will always have good memories & can always rewatch and wait until they cast & crew get together again for a new series...

Anyways, just to go off-topic for a while, Singapore is now broadcasting BETTER HALVES, the drama by Steven Ma and Maggie Cheung. We are pretty outdated, aren't we?

I really don't know what's up with Producer Tsui... Seems like he has no interest to work on another long-running series! Plus, the sitcom that they have now ("Welcome To The House") was just extended to 240 episodes. So it won't finish until March! I hope TVB will end it after 240... but I get this sinking feeling that they will continue to extend it... The series is not getting good ratings like VOH nor does it have VOH's popularity & buzz. However, money means everything to TVB (and that series is all about sponsorship & advertisement) so I think they will keep it around to make money... -Sigh-

She also guest starred in the ancient version as the real Gung Yan So! Love Halina. She is very pretty and has great acting. Too bad VOH never made her a recurring character and only guest star. Seems like Halina really loved being with the VOH family!

When she first started out in VOH II, I thought her acting sucked big time. As the show progressed however, one can actually see her improve over time. In fact I think the phrase "improved by leaps and bounds" would be more appropriate.
I personally thought she did not manage to "click" with the rest of the cast when she made her debut, although she eventually did "gel" in with the Kam family.
Dun believe me? Compare her acting skills during the time when she made her first entrance and the time when the drama was about to end. U will notice she looked pretty gawkish during the former period.

Just out of curiosity did you guys notice that some of the casts have changed religions? I noticed it when I was rewatching VOH tapes... And then since I was watching them right after VOH ended. I still remembered the facts. Example:
Our Number One most Obvious:
Nim Chi:
From being a Buddhist from the beginning of the seriesˇK.till somewhat late chapters we see her wearing a cross all the way till the end. Kinda weird eh?
[IMG][/IMG]
There was also some others Iˇ¦m not sure if they didˇKbut I couldnˇ¦t find pics to make sure. Ne WaysˇKjust wanted to stated that out!

When I saw Nancy wear the cross pendant towards the end, I was thinking "Wait, I thought she was Buddhist!" I wonder if Nancy converted from Buddhism to Christianity? But Nim Chi's character seems like she would more of a Buddhist though considering how she's so superstitious and whatnot...
Thanks for sharing.

As of right now, the casts are all very divided... Bondy Chiu has even decided not to renew her contract with TVB and has announced that she will not act in TV series anymore (at least in the near future). The producer hasn't announced any interest in doing a continuation or sequel. It's looking quite hopeless, to be frank.
The best we can hope for is that the cast will be back (or at least most of them) for a brand new series...

It's because they weren't sure who was going to be in the series. VOH likes to film their themevideos to give a unique touch (since they can use it for a longer period of time rather than just putting together a clipshow of scenes). However, because of the departure of Frankie, Bernice, and Cutie, they were too occupied with finding new cast members to worry about replacing the themevideo. When they did find new people, Hawick left (so they filmed the themevideo without him).
I think they were stalling to replace the themevideo because they simply didn't have the time, which is a shame because VOH I's themevideos were so good. Given time, VOH II's themevideo with the dancing and whatnot would have been so good. I was also disappointed that they didn't film a new themevideo with Steven dancing in it. But again, I guess they couldn't find the time/budget to film it.

Linda Chung first appears in episode 259 while Steven Ma first appears in episode 365. I'm not sure if you're Viet, but if you are, Linda's first appearance is 173 and Steven's is 244.
